Sorry, but if you’re 106 lbs, you don’t need to be losing weight.

@spoonoutmyheart: Unfortunately belly pudge won’t really go away with any diet, it’s best to burn it off with cardio. I’ve never done the cabbage soup diet so I can’t help you with that. What goal weight are you shooting for? It seems that with this diet it’s mostly a loss of water weight, nothing long-term or body changing toning-wise.

@spoonoutmyheart: You lucky duck, I’ve got to run miles upon miles to get the abs to show nicely ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d say then to just make sure you’re keeping hydrated (losing weight isn’t so attractive if your skin is looking tired and dry) and do stretches and sit-ups periodically throughout the day.

Maybe reverse crunches will help flatten your lower abdominal area and fight the little pudge when you eat. I’ve also heard that you look more temporarily toned and fit right after you do some crunches and pushups, so hit the floor right before the pool ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hehe.

First off, your weight naturally fluctuats from day to day. Weighing yourself everyday is a bit pointless for that reason. You should try weighing yourself once a week instead.

Secondly, I find that I gain 2 pounds or so just before and during my period. I attribute it to water weight since you naturally retain more water while menstruating.

Some people are just more “regular” than others. They say that you shouldn’t be concerned unless you’re going less than 3 times a week or more than 3 times a day.

I would still suggest just exercising more, avoiding salt and drinking lots of water.

@spoonoutmyheart: Ugh, I totally feel you! I only weigh about 105, but after I eat, I look pregnant because everything goes right to my belly! ๐Ÿ™ I have never tried the cabbage soup diet, and I hate cabbage, so it probably wouldn’t work for me.  Like some of the other posters said, I notice a change when I cut down on salt and boost my water intake to 2-3 liters a day.  Good luck, and have a blast this weekend!

I don’t know what the cabbage soup diet is but it sounds like phooey to me. I started doing sparkpeople.com on Friday and have already lost about 2 lbs. It’s really forcing me to measure out what I”m eating and stop after a normal portion size. I’ve also started running 3 times a week and that’s helping to flatten my stomach a little.

I like it better than a super restrive diet (like cabbage soup?) because I can eat whatever I want and still have a cocktail after work, I just have to be careful about staying under a certain calorie range every day.

@DeathByDesign: Agreed.

Also, you are potentially doing a lot of damage to your metabolism by crash-dieting – you’re telling your body to prepare for famine so it’s going to eventually carry more fat to adapt.  Avoid salt and anything else that causes you to bloat, don’t slouch, and stick to smaller meals so you don’t get food-baby.

I didn’t read all of the comments, so I’m sorry if I repeat something, but I have gone on the cabbage soup diet a few times in the past, and it has always worked for me! I usually lose about 10 pounds each time.  I wouldn’t worry that you didn’t lose weight between yesterday and today.  Just make sure you are eating the soup!

Also, it does take away the extra weight around the belly, at least for me. Good luck finishing the diet!

I wanted to add that this is obviously not the healthiest diet, but if I need/want to drop pounds quickly, and am okay with the fact that it only produces results in the short term, this is my go-to diet.

My mom used to do this when I was a kid. I remember really liking the soup; I love cabbage ๐Ÿ™‚ I didnt do the soup diet, but ate a ton of cabbage when I was in college and lost weight. Basically, you’re limiting your calorie intake. Also, depending on what you are putting in the soup, you are probably also limiting your carb intake. When I reduce carbs, the belly pudge goes away instantly. The soup is good because it fills you up with veggies and liquids (like any soup really).

I bet your period had to do with the weight flucuations. It’s hard to weigh yourself everyday. I wouldnt worry so much about the number, but how you feel and look. I tend to gain weight the week prior, but then lose the week of and week after. Your weight changes everyday.

B-party in Vegas sounds fun!! I just got back from a few days in Vegas and had a great time. The weather was good – not too hot yet.
