are you on the Best Destination Weddings forum? If not- head over there… the thread for brides making alternate plans etc is very active and the TA’s that are on the site have been great at giving updates and info that brides are needing.

If you were planning on having your wedding at any big hotel I’m sure you could contact HQ, so to speak, and have them help you with alternatives. As in maybe they could contact you with a sister hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Cancun or Acapulco so you could transfer your plans over there?

Paguilar84:  dang it; I was hoping you wouldn’t say that. 🙁  I have nothing then except I’m so sorry this is happening to you!

Going through the same thing right now. I was supposed to get married in Cabo on Nov. 9th. We are now moving the wedding to Maui becuase the hyatt ziva will not open until April 2015. Hope you’re hanging in there! I have had a few meltdowns since recieving the news and now having to plan an entirely new wedding.

Thanks!

Brooke

Hello,

I signed a contract with Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos about two weeks ago to have a late May 2015 wedding there. At the time, I asked if there is any risk that the venue won’t be ready to reopen on April 30, 2015. I was assured that the reopening date is conservative to allow plenty of time for repairs.

Today, one of my wedding guests informed me of inability to make any additional reservations. The following message is displayed for all dates prior to June 16, 2015: “The hotel is not available for your requested travel dates. It is either sold out or not yet open for reservations”.

I haven’t been able to talk to the hotel staff yet, but I’m worried my wedding date won’t be honored. Is anyone in the same situation or knows what’s going on?

Hi,

We do not have a wedding planner, other than the one provided by the hotel. I tried calling Hyatt over the weekend, but won’t have any answers until Tuesday as it’s a national holiday in Mexico. Is Hyatt Ziva your wedding venue? If they’re reopening this year for your wedding, then I should be fine in May.

Paguilar84:  Sure, any information would be helpful. We raised our concerns with the corporate office. They are currently investigating, and should get back to use mid week.
