Do you have a picture of a rice krispie treat cake? I am not sure what to recommend to go with it without seeing pictures.
I say why not have the Dessert bar and you can include Rice Krispy treats as one of the options? ;)
I dunno, it seems like rice krispie treats might be a little bit low key for a wedding. I think I would be a little disappointed as a guest if that is all there was for dessert. But then again, I am a dessert kind of girl. ;)
what sort of options were you considering for the dessert bar? I'm not a big fan of cake myself, so it wouldn't bother me to have other desserts available instead. :)
We aren't cake people either....We're having a Pie Bar
I say have a desert bar and offer all sorts of different kinds of Rice Krispie treats. Choc/Marshmellow - Choc Chip, Marshmellow, plain, etc...MMMMMMMMMMMMM
I would rather have a delicious rice krispie treat than an overprocessed sugary cake, hands down! I like the dessert bar idea - i would put those little eclairs on it. I see those like a squirrel, packing my cheeks! they're so cute and delicious.
I edited the original post to inclue a few different inspiration pictures for those interested. I guess I should also say that our wedding is going to be small- about 50 people- and fairly casual.
I like the idea of a dessert bar! If your heart is set on a ricekrispy treats- add it to one of the many options of the dessert bar! The rice krispy cake is cute though :)
I'm thinking dessert bar with regular rice krispie treats, not the full cake!
I say dessert bar with a mini rice krispie cake or regular treats. That being said, that cake is really cute in the second pic from one of the Bee's blogs!
I prefer the cake that meatball blogged about! It's much prettier! Although I lean more toward the traditional side, although the mr. and I are also not big cake eaters we are going to have a few small cakes. And we do love cheese cake so we will have that! So if ya'll like cheese cake you could use that for your wedding cake,
But if you do still prefer the rice krispy treat cake go with one more like ms meatballs! Or atleast as elegant!
Good luck!
I think the first picture is cool! I'm a huge fan of making your wedding all about you (the bride and groom), so I think if that's what he wants, and you are okay with it, go for it! Don't worry about tradition, if the guests don't like it too bad, it's YOUR day. It might be nice to have some other desserts just for variety, but I say go for it on the cake!
Edited to add suggestions on other desserts...cannolis (YUM!), mini cheese cake bites, brownies, chocolate covered strawberries.
What if you did a small rice krispie cake as his grooms cake and a dessert bar? my fi doesnt like cake so im surprising him with a bunch of key lime pies. i like the dessert bar idea though!

My FH and I are not big cake people, and neither is half of my family. I've been considering a dessert bar with several types of bite sized desserts. Recently FH brought up an idea I had showed him a while ago about a rice krispy treat cake. Turns out he has really set huis mind on having that as a dessert. I'm not opposed but think it may be a little too untraditional and some people may not be on board. So fellow bees please tell me which you'd rather eat as a guest and why :) Thanks!
Edited to inclue that the cake would probably look something like this one see here http://ricekrispies.com/#/recipes/wedding-cake or this one in Mrs. Meatball's blog post here http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/11/23/a-cake-that-snaps-crackles-and-pops/
