Neither my Fiance or I like Cake. What would be a great alternative when we aren’t fans of Cake or Candy?
We were thinking more along the lines of Root Beer floats. Is it selfish to do those when almost everybody loves cake?

Candy? Pie? Cookies?
I feel there are lots of alternatives and I think the root beer float idea is cute too.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the cake…a lot of people (myself included) are having too much fun to stop and eat it!

It is unusual but who cares? People like sweets in general, as long as you give them some kind of dessert they’ll be happy.

Root Beer Floats sound awesome. Maybe an option for milkshakes as well?
Or maybe a Sundae bar?

I love when brides make their wedding their own and add things they like. Your guests will love it too. 🙂

I think root beer floats sound adorable!!! and think of the fun pictures! I have been to weddings with ice cream stations and chocolate fountains in lieu of cake. do whatever makes you happy!!!

I went to a wedding that served a cookie and a wonderful "adult" milkshake-kahlua thing. AMAZING.

I went to a wedding where they served crepes with some sort of yummy flambe. Really, pretty much any dessert will do – that’s all that cake is. Brownies, pudding, pies, chocolate mouse, twinkies, chocolate dipped strawberries…anything your heart desires! Rootbeer floats is a totally adorable idea.
If anything, I’d just make sure it compliments the meal. Dessert is, afterall, part of an overall meal.
Not selfish AT ALL! Plus, I don’t think that everyone loves cake. I think it’s ok, but it’s certainly not on the list of my fav desserts. Who are they to demand cake anyway?

Well … just so you know … I think it’s so unique and cool! I hope you do it and post pictures. I think that in 2009 … now more than ever, is the time to do whatever you want for your wedding!
Gone are the days where you have to have a fondant wedding cake that you hate and most of the guests won’t eat … now you can put your own twists on everything.
I love the pics of cookies with milkshakes! As long as the detail is all yours … your guests will love it and appreciate it!

I think a root beer float/ice cream type thing would be great! You are by no means limited to a cake and should serve what’s most fitting for the two of you! I mention adding ice cream (even if it’s just the vanilla that you’d put into the root beer), just in case you have guests that would prefer it instead of the float).
