It’s been traditional to serve wedding cake.  I think it’s fine. 🙂

I have been to many weddings where they served the cake as dessert. It does affect your timing though as the bride and groom do have to get up and do the formal cake cutting before the cake can be removed to be cut, then served by the catering staff.

Nope, the only dessert I had was cake! It was delicious too =)

It’s fine to just have cake. I’m a huge fan of a lavish dessert hour but I could eat sweets all day. I’ll also be 6months pregnant at our wedding. Can’t indulge in the open bar so I want a ton of desserts

lol.

@julies1949:  Last few weddings I went to they didn’t make a big deal out of the cake cutting. Just the bride, groom, parents & photographer.

Cake as dessert is definitely the norm.  Only on TV have I seen these elaborate dessert hours.  Personally, I find them a bit weird, unless desserts are your ‘thing’.

@FutureMrsJohnston:  I hear you! We can only afford it because the owner gave us a generous discount when I mentioned trying to come up with extra $$ so we could have it. Definitely a perk of dealing with the owner directly!
