Maybe pint-sized Chinese takeout containers? They're sold at lots of online retailers (sorry, I don't have any suggestions!)
I'm doing cakeball favours.
We are tying them up in cellophane bags with ribbons. It was a much more economical choice when I have to make 250+
I am giving all my bridesmaid boxes of cake mix to bake and then they are coming over some saturday to assemble.
Yum. Every time I talk about making these i craaaave them! :)
Do you have a Dollar Tree near you? I brought my favor boxes from their wedding section (we're doing mini cupcakes, so it's a similar size to cake balls) and they are so cute! They are 6 for $1. I don't have any pictures right now, but they're ivory boxes, about 2 - 2.5 inches tall. They also have these on the Dollar Tree website, 12 for $1 if you don't mind this kind of package:
@kirabee - I think those boxes are so cute, but they are too big! I'd have to make at least twice as many cake balls to fill them and I don't have the time for that.
@Beesgf - that is a great idea! I really love the look of boxes, and am not giving up hope yet, but if I can't find any, then I'll have to do the bags too. Will you take pictures of your finish product and post them? I can't wait to see what yours look like. Are you freezing them in the cellophane bags?
@Ducks35 - as it turns out we do have a Dollar Tree near by. I'll go there this weekend and see if I can find those favor boxes.
Keep the ideas coming!!
If you think so, maybe I'm picturing larger cake balls than you're making.. Standard Chinese food usually comes in quart or pint containers. Many sites also sell half-pint if you still think that would be too big. http://www.papermart.com/templates/81-0-05.htm

I may be insane, but I'm contemplating making cake balls for our wedding favors. In my head I'd like to put two cake balls in a box and tie a ribbon around the box. But I'm having the worst time trying to find boxes.
Any suggestions?? I'm estimating the boxes would need to be about 4" long by 2" tall and 2" deep.
Did anyone else do cakeballs as favors?
