- The Bide and Groom will open the cake buffet after dinner.
You could also not set out the plates/cake knives until you're ready for the buffet to open.
I'm with Lamb - I just wouldn't have plates/forks/cake knives/lifters available on the table under after you've cut your cake.

Hello! My fiance and I are having a cake buffet that will sit out at the reception for viewing. I would like our guests to refrain from eating cake until after we cut ours.
I'm looking for a cute little quote or saying to go on a sign on the cake buffet table to ask the guests nicely to wait. Suggestions please? I am at my wits end about the wording!
