FI and I are having a hard time picking a song for the cake cutting. I can’t decide if I want it to be something upbeat and fun (and maybe slightly food/cake related) like I Can’t Help Myself by the 4 Tops. Or if we should go with something more sentimental like Stolen by Vitamin String Quartet, which has a lot of meaning to us and we’re trying to work into the wedding somehow.
We already have a first dance song that we’re set on, so we can’t use Stolen for that. It also seems like it might be too random to use as one of the slow songs for the evening, as all the other dance music will be regular pop type stuff.
What do you guys think?

i think the first one is so much fun:-) im all for the fun! But, i could picture the second one as a cake cutting song. If it means alot to you and its the only way you can think to incorporate it then do it up! You could also use that song as your walking out of the ceremony after they prenounce you husband and wife! just an idea:-)

I would go with I Can’t Help Myself (or Sugar, Sugar – that is my fav. wedding cake cutting song), in part because The other song is more important to you. I don’t think the cake cutting song is played for very long. You could use the Stolen song in a couple of places. It could be the last dance when the reception is wrapping up. Or you could walk into it to the reception as you are announced. Or you could walk down the aisle to it or when you walk back down the aisle after you are married (recessional). If you have a DJ I bet your DJ can give you some good ideas as to where it would fit well into the wedding/reception.

@Future MrsB: I have never heard of the Vitamin String Quartet, just You Tubed them…AWESOME! I am totally going to use some of their music in our ceremony!
I say use Stolen for your cake song. It’s beautiful!

We are cutting our cake to 1,2,3,4 by the Plain White T’s… listen to it in itunes..
Does get more fun and sweet than that IMO.
