We used Happy Together by the Turtles. That song always makes me think of the golden grahams commercials from the 80s.
Are you planning on using a special cake cutting song?
The wedding I was just in had "Going to the Chapel." I really am looking for any & all suggestions people have for this - it could be fun to do something silly like "Sugar, sugar."
LOL, the Golden Grahams commercial!!! LOVE IT!!
I think we might use "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies. I love the lyrics and I think it'd be cute!
I want to use "How sweet it is (to be loved by you) by James Taylor.
We're planning to use "He'll Make Me Happy," which is the song that plays when Kermit and Miss Piggy get married in The Muppets Take Manhattan. My FI and I are huge Muppet fans and one of our pseudo-dates (i.e. one of the many outings we had where I sat there and wondered if we were on a date or just becoming best friends) was seeing a midnight showing of Muppets Take Manhattan.
It would be perfect if we could get Kermit and Piggy cake toppers, but those things are absurdly expensive on eBay and there are no official licensed cake toppers.
There is this groovy song called cut the cake by the average white band. So perfect for this event. Had a friend who said he heard it at a wedding and everyone loved it. Download it and give it a shot. It's what we are using and it's really upbeat.
We're having whoopie pies so we're thinking of using "Makin' Whoopie" by Louis Armstrong.
I was thinking Sugar Sugar but my FI LOVES Cake (the food & the band haha) so maybe we should use one of their songs instead! (I find it really funny that he made a CD of Cake Songs and without realizing how FUNNY it was named it simply - Cake Mix! HAHA :D)
I've never heard of doing a Cake Cutting song, but I love the idea and the songs that you all are doing!
Definitely planning on having a cake cutting song! My sister used "How sweet it is", it was really cute. The Mr. and I should probably start thinking of what song to use :)
We also used How sweet it is (to be loved by you) by James Taylor. I really liked it :)
I haven't even thought of a cake cutting song until I saw this thread. Of course, I haven't started a music list yet, but it's good that I'm on the WB boards because they get me thinking! Thanks Mrs.Bee :)
I have a feeling that ours will be a battle, so we're going with Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard ;-)
It's definitely a cute idea. Hehe, how about "Pour Some Sugar On Me?" ![]()
There's another version of Pour Some Sugar on Me by but by Townsend. Both versions would be cute. Interestingly enough, the twins from the band are now firefighters with my husband.
My MOH used "sugar, sugar" but we're going with a song called "Sugar is Sweeter" - it's very electronic and very us.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SONG "CUT THE CAKE!!" BY THE AVERAGE WHITE BAND!..............LICK UP THE CREAM.... LOL THATS OUR SONG ...THANKS DAD
"Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies....it's like it was made for cake cutting...very cute lyrics :)
We haven't finalized it yet but we are thinking "Sweetest Love" by Robin Thicke.
We are using Rock and Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter. It's that one they play at sporting events sometimes....dun dun dun dun dun dun HEY! I think it will be really playful and fun, and hopefully people might "hey" along
We're using the song from the end credits in Half Life Portal. He's a video game nerd so it works! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ljFaKRTrI
We used "When I'm 64" by the Beatles. It seemed to fit really well and we loved it.
Definitely "Love and Marriage" from Married w/Children.
I think it suits us b/c we'll be married, already with children!
We used a song called "Sugar is Sweeter" by CJ Bolland - both of us LOVE this song, but I'm sure 95% of our guests had never heard it before. (If you're with them & want to hear it, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyO68rXJcJ4 to see the video).
Sugar, Sugar by the Archies was a close second - my MOH used it at her wedding & I thought it was really cute.
We're planning on "Sweet Dreams are made of these"
@Bellenga...that's awesome!!! D and my dad LOVE Married w/Children...when he was on nights, he would get home just in time to watch it at like 5am....total hilariousness...he's drinking a beer, I'm drinking coffee, we're eating McD's watching Mw/C!
Oooh Sugar Sugar is a good one for this!! Just found Harry Connick Jr Recipe for love and it's soo cute!!!!!!
I'm going to run these by the fiance and see what he thinks! Thanks for all the great ideas!
How bout "Ice Cream" by Sarah McLaughlin? Love that one!
@briannie: I know this is super old, but when I was scanning thru and saw this, I had to comment! That's what we're using for ours too! I'm glad I'm not the only person out there who thought of Weird Al! haha :)
We also used the Beatles "When I'm 64". I loved the line in the song, "will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm 64?" So cute, and I'm a huge Beatles fan!
