I'm getting married in Saratoga Springs, and Angelina, owner of Cakes by Aneglina is doing our cake. She actually is all booked through next year, but she also recommends Lea at her family's bakery, Bread Basket in Saratoga Springs. Here's some examples of her work:

Looks like she's awesome with sculpture cakes!
I went with Cocca Dotts (www.coccadotts.com) on Central Ave. We went for a tasting and the cake was AMAZING! They bake you a full 6 inch cake for your tasting, and you get two, with whatever flavor and filling you want. YUM! Our reception venue, the Desmond, highly recommends them. Another place is Villa Italia in Schenectady, which has incredible cake too.
I bought a cupcake at Coccadots the other day at the suggestion of my florist and it was awesome. The frosting to cake ratio was a bit high, but it was deliciously delicious. You may want to check out JS Watkins too, though. They made the cake for my sisters wedding and it was great =
Only go to Villa Italia in Schenectady! Coccadotts is great, but Villa Italia has them beat by a landslide!

So, I am in search of a good cake person. Although we already have our wedding cake, provided by our venue (the marriott on wolf rd), I am need of a grooms cake for the rehersal dinner. Although I don't want just any ordinary cake. I need a cake that is sculpted like a llama. There is a funny story to this weird cake. Please induldge, you'll be glad you did.... I grew up in suburban CT and my FI grew up in very rural NY on a farm on the NY/VT border. The first weekend I went to meet his folks, I went outside and looked across the pasture to the neighbors farm, and thought that I saw llamas. So, being the new gf I went in and said, very proudly, "I like the llamas across the street!". Needless to say, they were NOT llamas, but instead Morgan Horses!! OPPS!!! So now whenever we see a horse, or I misidentify something, my FI, my future in-laws and my parents all respond with, "llama, llama, llama". This joke has been going on for the past 4 years!!! So, I thought that I would bring the joke into the wedding.
At first, I thought that it would be cool to have Charm City Cakes (aka, Ace of Cakes on Food Network) to do the cake, but their cakes begin at a min. of $1000.00!!! So, I am calling out to all my fellow bees of the best place to get a good carved 3-D cake in the Albany area.
Thanks for all your help!!!
