@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: Ooh I love that one!
In general, I'd say a simple buttercream cake like that one - classy without looking stuffy, as fondant sometimes can.
We did a textured buttercream because we didn't want something over-the-top stiff and formal.
our cake was had a fudge frosting, it was a red velvet cake with chocolate covered strawberries on it, much unlike most wedding cakes that I've seen.
@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: The texture on this cake is incredible. Thank you for sharing!

Hope this helps. Your wedding sounds like its going to be beautiful!!
@organizedbride11: Aww thank you! This cake is very nearly the perfect size for our littel ceremony.

This looks like Martha S. I love it's simplicity, but it gives such a statement.
The texture and look is great!
@ButtercupBo: You have so many to choose from!

{Not a fan of the toppers, but I like the Tree branch design...Reminds me of an Orchard} Or maybe think of something related to the farm and plan the cake around that?
I've seen brown cakes to mimic wood and all.
This is one of my favorites, including the stand

with flowers and fruits- can be done with buttercream

So many great ideas!
I LOVE the wooden cake stand. I am trying to decide if I will get one of those or if I will go with the barn wood cake stands.
I used to think I was totally into the smooth fondant but I'm loving the texture of the buttercream cakes!

Hello Everyone-
My Aunt is making our wedding cake as our wedding gift. She has basically given us free rein to do whatever we want, all we need to do is tell her what we want the cake to look like.
We are getting married on the farm that I grew up on, it's going to be a simple ceremony with ~ 40 people and a small reception afterwards. The theme I was going for was Martha Stewart country-ish. I am growing my own flowers for the bouquets and centerpieces on the farm. We're using mason jars as vases.
I want a cake that reflects this same style - country without being over the top "big redneck wedding." Our cake topper is simple, our first initials connected with a burlap heart.
I am looking for country cake inspiration. Please share pics or links, I would be most appreciative!
