it’s my birthday and im lucky enough to be spending it with my fiance and his family. Anways, so they were singing happy birthday and my fiance was bringing out the cake. He gets to me and fakes dropping the cake on me, but then it slippes for real and goes flying all over me! in my hair, down my shirt, on my clothes etc. My fiance and his family proceed to die of laughter at this, i managed to say “you better not do this at our wedding” and proceed to laugh too! Although it was hilarious on my birthday, im not sure if it would fly so well with me on our wedding day. What do you ladies think about cake in the face? all in good fun or hell no for the wedding?

I think most brides will say hell no, but we got each other good and then we gave each other a big frosting filled smooch and everyone got a kick out of it. To this day, people are still talking about our cake cutting. We’re very silly together so it worked for us, and we didn’t cut the cake until right before dancing began so at that point I didn’t really care about my makeup (which surprisingly didn’t get messed up). We had fun with it and we have some pretty epic pics. lol

all in good fun. I’ve been to hundreds of weddings (work in the industry) and when it comes to the cake, everyone’s a little disapointed when it’s not a show.

At my aunt and uncles wedding they shoved cake in each others faces and my aunt ended up getting a bloody nose from my uncles force. She spent 45 minutes in the bathroom crying, trying not to get blood on her dress ( which was actually my moms dress). So, no, there will be no cake in the face at our wedding. 🙂

I think its cute, especially if it matches with a fun-loving, careful couples.
@UpstateCait: Ouch, that would definitely suck.

Hehe, Darling Husband and I teased each other about doing it, he didn’t smoosh cake in my face but I did to him! It was all in good fun!

There will be NO cake in the face at our wedding! (we made that very clear months ago, and we both are in complete agreement.)
however, we’re also starting to think that the whole cake-cutting thing is kind of dumb/awkward at most weddings we’ve seen, and we may not even do that!

Ugh, no way. I hated the thought of sticky cake frosting all over the place. Yuck. DH was actually a bit offended when I mentioned to him that I did not want to smash cake in each other’s faces – he had no idea people actually did that. I do think some pictures of it are cute but it just wasn’t for us.

I’ve already told Fiance in no uncertain times that cake in the face will not be happening at our wedding. He has told me that I can do it to him, but I personally can’t stand the tradition.

I wanted to give Darling Husband a little bit of frosting on the nose. He wasn’t having it. These pics of it crack me up

Definitely not happening at my wedding. I will have spent so much time perfecting my makeup…I would be very angry to have frosting all over my face.

We are silly and fun-loving with each other but this is not something that I would do. A little dab of frosting on those nose or lips okay but literally smashing cake in each others face, no way. I do not like the idea of being sticky and messy on my wedding day.

It comes across as juvenile and disrespectful. You don’t spend the money you do on looking nice (dress, hair, makeup) to have it be completely ruined by cake smeared all over you. Food fights generally stop when once is a kid, not the highlight of a formal event.
