Hello Bees!
I'm feeling totally uninspired so I decided to come to the board for a little inspiration. Please post your favorite cake photos, celebrity, home-made or your actual cake for you newlyweds.
I like a whimsical cake, and i love yellow. I am more of a buttercream gal rather than fondant
This is my cake inspiration but I can't decide if I want round or square. I don't care for fondant either.
@honeybear do you know where those cake stands are from? they're darling!
OOh! I wish I could upload a picture of my dream cake; unfortunately it ex ists only in a ROUGH sketch that I gave to my baker. It's 4-5 tiers and has roughly applied ivory buttercream icing. In between the tiers, instead of using posts/lifts/whatever those things are called, we're putting grapevine wreaths in between the layers. Our topper is the Willow Tree "Together" couple (it's the one that looks like they're dancing).
ok, didn't have a dream cake until NOW! your girls' dream cakes are absolutely adorable! LOVE THEM. And great, now one more element to actually care about...lol
Ok , I picked my cake out of a magazine from 2001 and have never found a photo like it online , but we make a fake cake very close and I was overly happy about it! i only have a pic of the fake cake topper but imagine it on another round level
@lulucarmen- Whoa, that first cake looks freakin huge! lol
@honeybear - I know!! I definitely do not want a cake that huge! Imagine the $$!
Here's mine! And I've only had it for like a week now - another bee posted this and I fell in love!
@honeybun - the simple detailing of your cake is amazing! I love it!!
I fell in love with this cake and a lot of our wedding decor came from it but it was crazy expensive when we inquired about it so we are going with something more like the second one

oh i love the simple white one with the pears....
this is a cake i keep looking at..... from Martha Stewart real weddings site
and the brown and white cake with chandalier stamping is WB's Mrs Flamingo's real wedding cake that i just love
I love the brown tier on Mrs Flimingo's cake...it looks like a stamped velvet or something.
I loved our cake because it was very personal. On each layer was script that meant something to us. It was quite the topic at the wedding with people trying to figure out what each meant.
@eloping- I love both of those cakes!
Here are my two inspiration cakes and ours will be very similiar. Well crud they are on the work computer. Booo
If I remember tomorrow I'll post
i like square cakes, but my fi didnt like 'boxes on top of eachother'. but we both really like this one!!!!
@lulucarmen, I think my friend is having a cake close to your second one. Its so pretty! I did a reverse of the colors on Photoshop at one point for her and I think she is going with that. Wish I had that pic saved on this computer.
This is the cake my step-sister is going to make for me. It's easy for her, and can easily be done in buttercream, plus the stripes match my invites and website.
Oh, I should have mentioned that I don't like those flowers on top. I'm trying to decide what type of topper I should use if any. A modern monogram might be nice, but I'm a big believer in "less is more", so I don't know. Any opinions?
I love all of the cakes posted and definitely feel inspired. I saw a cake that I actually love and drumroll...it's all chocolate! mmmm. I saw it in a mag so I will have to scan and as soon as I do will post.
We are having cheesecake and fruit as well so I think I'll be ok with a chocolate cake.
Although I once had key lime cake and it was awesome!
Here are some of the ones I'm going for. I'm hoping I can get the cake in buttercream (fondant tastes like caca) with the flower logo/motif I'm using on all my staionary in aqua and lime.
I also like the modern tall tiers of different heights. But I worry about how the hall will cut my uneven layers.
Mine would be something like this...a pretty sand castle for my beach wedding..
But, than again, I like the blue one as well...it's a little more traditional.
I cant believe some of the talent out there, those cakes are amazing! here is one of my favs I have found
I love these cakes. And when I get married, maybe I'd go extravagant and have cake AND a croquembouche Mmmmmmmmm delicious caramel-y pastry morsels
