So I'm having a hard time reaching my cake maker.  I've left a message and email.  We haven't yet decided on flavors...and we're 3 1/2 weeks out.  Should I be worried and more aggressive about tracking her down?  Just wondering when you had your final convo with the cake maker about this stuff...

I would say you're ok, as long as you have the design, colors, size, etc... finalized.  If flavors are the only thing left to finalize, you probably don't need to panic until 2 weeks out.  We finalized flavors at our first tasting, but my husband is really into cake.  :)  I would send another email tomorrow, and then really start trying to find her after the weekend.

I had my final conversation about flavors and such with our cake maker over email last week (2.5 weeks before), but she's in VT and very laid back. I give her my final numbers this Friday (one week before).

How much time between your message and email? I would expect at least a 48-hour turnaround on vendor replies, if you make contact during the business week. Don't forget the July 4th holiday interrupts schedules and she is probably also busy with wedding season.

So it's been more than 2 weeks since I first tried to get in touch with my cakemaker.  My wedding is 8/1.  I've left voice mails and sent emails.  Should I start looking for a new baker?  Thoughts?

I would start looking for a back-up baker, just in case. If you haven't put down a deposit, switch over right away. This woman just strikes me as incredibly unprofessional if she hasn't even returned voice mail messages.

yeah...that's what I'm feeling.  Though she came highly recommended.  I paid a deposit in January, so it esp. irks me b/c I booked her a long time ago.
