Well, think of it this way, on a 12" cake there would be 2" extra on each side. Then add on fondant and buttercream or just buttercream and that adds like 1/2" + on each side. Pretty soon 16" doesn't seem all that huge. Check Michael's, Joann's, etc for them. If nothing else you could make or have somebody else make one for you.

My baker is making us an amazing 3 tier cake with the bottom layer being a 12" diameter circle. she recommended me getting a 16" diameter cake stand. that seems really large and I'm having trouble finding one. Does any one have any suggestions or a tutorial on how to make one? I like the idea of doing a glass or candleabra glued to a plate but i'm afraid it wont be sturdy enough and I'm still having issues finiding a big enough dish. Our wedding colors are creme, teal, navy and pink. Its beachy and summery with lots of pearls.
