We are going to a cake-tasting today! (yay!) This is our first one, and I was wondering how many cake-places everyone tried before committing to a baker? If we like them should we go ahead and book? Or would you recommend trying several?

Yum! Have fun!! We went to two different places. Honestly, we loved the first place we went to and had already decided that we wanted to go with them after their tasting, but I had already booked the second tasting and felt bad canceling on such short notice!
If you really love your tasting today I don’t think you need to book another. If you’re on the fence though, it never hurts to get a few more samples. 😉

I agree with w/coyote. My Fiance and I originally booked two bakers to meet with for tastings. After we met the first baker, got along well with her and enjoyed her samples, we went ahead and booked her and cancelled the other tasting. It didn’t seem necessary for us to keep looking. Enjoy!

We went to one and booked it on the spot. It was really the only place that would work with what we wanted (small two tier cake, 2 additional sheet cakes so we could self transport.)
The price was awesome, the cake was good, and the baker was nice.

I would say a minimum of 2, but if those won’t do it then keep looking. My first tasting the cake was terrible but hte baker was an awesome lady. The 2nd place the cake was amazing and that is where we went. If that place had had terrible cake I would have kept on trucking

I’d say whatever you’re comfortable with, you’ll know when you find it. I tried four who were good, but not great. Finally went to a fifth one and it was everything I was looking for – great design, great taste, reasonable price.

i have three bookmarked, with one favorite so far (because of the flavors they have listed on their site). i figure we’ll do a tasting with them first, and then the other two, and we’ll probably pick from them. if not, well, we’ll schedule as many tastings as we have to. i’d say at least two would be good though.

There are 3-4 in my area within my price range and I plan to try at least 2-3 of them. I do feel bad about taking their time, but if I am going to make a big purchase from a place, I want to at least try it!

We had intended to try 3 or 4 places, but fell in love with the cake at our first tasting. It was sooooooooooo good. Fiance said it was the best cake he’s had in his entire life (and we’ve gone to tons of weddings the past few years). So we booked after only one tasting!

There is no set number. If you fall in love with the first place, great. If it takes you 50 different places to decide, then that’s great too. Only you know what works for you and what your guests will enjoy.
