Fiance and I had our cake tasting this afternoon and to say it went well is an understatement. We went into the appointment confident in the bakers abilities but a little worried because our requests are somewhat unique.
Fiance has his heart set on a canoli filled cake. Before I started shopping around for bakeries, I didn’t think something like this would be an issue but it definitely turned out to be. Canoli filling is very unstable so if it’s not executed correctly, the cake could either collapse or soak up the filling and make the cake mushy. We contacted a bakery who was confident that they would be able to create our vision. This bakery also happened to be owned by a friend of my Aunt.
The tasting went awesome! The canoli filling was spot on and the cake was perfect. We’re having a fall themed wedding and our cake will reflect exactly that. We’re very excited since our cake will be unlike any wedding cake we’ve ever seen. The best news of the appointment came when I pulled out our check book to make the deposit only to find out that my Aunt and Uncle are going to be paying for our cake. Our $598 cake! I could not believe it. I almost cried!
Heres the beauty that we will be eating in a few months…
I still can’t believe that my aunt and uncle are paying for our cake. When the owner was adding up the charges I was definitely starting to sweat. I never imagined spending so much on the cake but its absolutely incredible and I really think it will make our whole theme come to life.
Did anyone else get any surprises with wedding planning?
