Cant you have more than one cake flavor in your cake? We had 3. Also I think you need to remind your sis and mom who's wedding this is.
You should def have cake you like.
I was all for raspberry filling, but my husband wasn't. We ended up just having bavarian cream filling. It was his cake, too! And it was delicious.
And it does matter what cake you like, because even though the guests are eating it, you'll remember your cake far longer than they will.
This sounds more like a "mom and sister" issue than a cake issue...
Have what you and your FI want. This isn't about what your sister says the "right" choice for a wedding is. What does that even mean anyway? No one's going to take a piece of cake and clutch their pearls if the inside cake is something other than white. They'll probably even appreciate it more if the inside is a different, less traditional but more delicious option.
I hate that this isn't your own decision. Maybe this is normal but it makes me appreciate the fact that we aren't getting any financial help from anyone for our wedding. You should definitely have your yellow cake if that's what you like.
Tricky situation, especially because your sister is paying.
Can't you get different flavors for different tiers? FI and I chose "crowd pleasing" flavors for the bottom and middle tiers. You know, the standard flavors that most guests will enjoy. But we chose a special flavor for the top tier that he and I will get to enjoy.
@Cem0930: It seems like your mom and sister are dictating everything! That sucks, I'm sorry.
Yes, "traditional" wedding cake is a white cake. My mom told me that when she and my grandma went to order her cake, there wasn't any option - just "wedding cake".
But WHO CARES? It's your wedding cake. Of course it is important what you want. Many brides these days don't even have cake and have pies or cookies for dessert. Also, tell you mom and sister that yellow cake is just white cake with the whole egg instead of egg whitess.
Like pp have said, can you get multiple flavors? We are doing three flavors (for 120 people) - Chocolate turtle, Mocha, and White cake with lemon and blueberry.

I went to my second cake tasting over the weekend. And I'm wondering, am I the only person on the planet who isn't wowed by raspberry filling in cakes?
My first cake tasting was awesome. Had a great experience. However, the second one didn't go as smooth. My mother and sister (and FI) came both times. My sister is paying because she doesn't want to use the cake my package provides. As an aside, the package is going to be using a new cake vendor to choose from so I thought that would solve problems, but I'm not allowed to use them either because my sister got an apple ring from them around Christmas and it had mold inside it. And my mom has heard of a wedding cake being cut into at a wedding with the same issue.
Anyways, so second cake tasting - we tried chocolate cake with chocolate filling I think, marble cake, red velvet cake, white cake with raspberry filling and light yellow cake with what might have been buttercream filling but I'm not positive. I liked the light yellow cake the best because as my FI put it the raspberry filling tasted like jam. When she came back and asked which we liked best my sister said the white cake even though that was my second choice (as another aside - my sister didn't want to use the original baker because they don't have white cake and I've been told numerous times how wedding cake is white by my mom and sister - they've even mentioned it at cake tastings to the consultants about how no one has white cake anymore). When I said I liked the light yellow the best I was told by my sister that it's not really about what I want because I won't really be eating the cake the guests will, since we just take the top tier.
I mentioned something to my mother about not being wild about raspberry filling and she told me that both of my sisters had raspberry filling at their wedding and everyone loved it. I know that the fruit cake fillings are really popular at weddings. Am I the only one on the planet who doesn't love fruit fillings in cake? I just prefer some type of a basic frosting filling.
