I think the elephants are cute. I think it is lucky if they are facing the east but it would be adorable to have them facing eachother.
Thanks for your input bees!
This might sound really strange to those outside of DC, but do you think that people will think that they are political, since our wedding is in DC?
Awww those are both cute! I forget sometimes that Adler doesn't design totally cheesy things!
If you happen to be in the field of politics then I'm sure people are going to make some assumptions... and people might find it strange if you are actually on the donkey side of the aisle.
Having said that, I do think the elephants are adorable!
I love the little people, they are super cute!
@Mrs. DG--my fiance works for the federal government and I work in politics. While my fiance is a Republican, I'm on the other side of the aisle! Do you think that would be weird? I love elephants and thought they tied in nicely with our African honeymoon. Do you think people will be confused? Most everyone knows we are going to Africa.
@JordynRose--I love the little people too!
@VirginiaMarie, @BeachFanatic, @JessesGirl, @amanda.lynn--I love elephant everything! I have a ton of elephant things in my house and my fiance's mom just got me a Hermes Africa II teapot/coffee pot for an engagement gift: http://www.michaelcfina.com/tableware/homeless/hermes-teacoffee-pot-004619P.html
Can I tell you that Hermes Africa II china is my DREAM but WAY, WAY outside my budget?
My mom thinks that people might associate the elephants with politics and doesn't want the wedding to be partisan. I don't think people would have that connotation outside of DC. I like them a lot!
It is awesome you collect elephants!!! We have a family friend who does the same. At Christmas she has an entire tree devoted to elephant ornaments, and it is so cute!!! When I was in Rome a few years ago there was a home shop that sold little red espresso cups with grey cartoon elephants all over them. To this day I still regret not buying them! :)
I do like the elephants, but I like the Mr. and Mrs. Muse too. Hmm...this is a tough decision! My fiance and sister like the Mr. and Mrs. Muse toppers better.

I wasn't originally going to do a cake topper idea, but my mom and sister both have one and display it in their china cabinet. I thought about using my mom's but it is really religious and 70s (and not in a cool way). So I tried to think of something that is "us". Jonathan Adler!
I have two ideas for cake toppers, both from Jonathan Adler. I like these ideas because they are things I can use again in my house and they are artistic. Art has played a huge role in my fiance and my relationship, from our second date on a gallery tour to our first "I love yous" after an art gala. Here are my ideas:
One is Mr. and Mrs. Muse salt and pepper shakers:

I Googled them and here they are on a "real" wedding cake: http://www.swsmag.net/blog/2010/3/10/real-georgia-wedding-jennifer-jay-part-ii.html
Scroll down on the left to pictures 7 and 10 to see them on a real cake.
Or, since we are going to Africa for our honeymoon and elephants are a symbol of good luck, what about two of these bottle stoppers:

I'd put them facing each other with their trunks up.
Thoughts?
