We are having a pie bar rather than traditional wedding cake. FH and I are unsure of what route to go for decorating the one we will be cutting. Our options are:
Do a separate small cake just for this only(but how to incorporate it in with the pies?)
Put a cake topper on our pie
Have the top crust on our pie much more intricate than the others
Do nothing at all

I think all of your choices are fine.how about a heart made of crust on the one that you and your hubby are having?

I would use a cake topper only because I love looking at ours on the mantle. But I would make sure it’s small-ish or get one that is on sticks like the ones below. but shorten the sticks so they aren’t hovering way ove the pie.

We are thinking of doing the same thing and I wasn’t sure what to do either.
I know he wants pie and then we are doing cheesecake (maybe) as our “cutting the cake”. Here is my inspiration pic, mainly for the multi-layered effect, but also the rustic/vintage look (LOVE IT). We are possible doing the willow tree (below) and it will just be on the cheesecake, if we do that. If we don’t I had thought to put it on its own little pedestal on the pie table.
