Cake toppers: A "poll"

posted 1 month ago in Beehive

Hi ladies!  I feel really lost when it comes to our cake topper. I thought we could do a poll where you either describe or post a picture of what you're going to use. I (and hopefully others) would find that really helpful.

I knew right away when I saw one caketopper that I wanted it. It is a gemstone tree (the wedding is Nov. 8th) and it's just gorgeous and unique and i love it.  here's the link

This, to me, solved a problem because my fiance and I are an interracial couple.  then we didn't have to be tied down by the minimal choices there are for mixed couples.  Well then my fiance said he really wanted a bride and groom (he's such a traditionalist) but neither of us liked the idea of painting either the bride or the groom of a caketopper i liked which i would have sat underneath the tree  - here's THAT link:

Soooo....we ended up finding an interracial caketopper which is actually very beautiful and cute - here's THAT link:

It's really beautiful and beyond my expectations.  Seeing as the tree isn't much bigger than the couple, i wanted to do oval cakes that were all set to one side so that the tree would be on the top layer and the couple on the second layer, kind of under the tree....but the bakery i wanted doesn't do ovals....so we're doing a tiered cake stand to achieve a similar look.  It's not EXACTLY what i wanted, but it will be beautiful.  I'm really excited about this part of our wedding and i hope our guests notice that it's unique with the tree.  Good luck everyone!

I'm debating between a super cute silver script "Mr & Mrs."( since it ties in with our favor that will say "hugs and kisses from Mr. & Mrs.") (sorry, I don't know how to post pics!) and a topper that consists of a bunch of yellow ranunculou (flowers).

What sort of style are you leaning towards? more traditional or something a little more eclectic?

Roses.  Kind of like this, but with red roses.

I also have a couple of My Little Ponys I have decorated - I don't think they'll go on the cake, but they might decorate the cake table.

I'm bound & determined to have a little bride & groom ... even if it's out of style!

I like the rhinestone monograms or flowers, too!

I could never find anything I liked, so I just didn't have any. Is that weird?

It was not for a lack of trying-I looked into Wii toppers, bought some smurf ones, spent hours on eBay...but I just wasn't into any of them. In the end I just told my cake baker to extend the floral design to the top and forget about it.

Not weird at all, Jessica -- I'm feeling the same way. I like the Wii toppers, but they don't really fit the theme of our reception. Neither FI nor I have any other quirky attribute (like fishing, or biking, or..whatever) that some of the more themed toppers seem to exemplify, so right now I'm between a traditional bride and groom (which I still think is adorable, just not sure if it's "us") and some blue hydrangeas.

My co-worker has a personalized bride and groom cake topper.  They sent a picture of their faces and the person made it out of clay.  I'm just having orchids on my cake.
