Any Calgary and area bees interested in a meetup? Whether you've already had your wedding, or are still in the process of planning, it'd be nice to meet up with some of you! I'm getting totally jealous of all the other big cities who have meet ups and I want one too! haha
Wow you're the first Calgary bee I've seen on here other than myself! There must be more of us somewhere considering how crazy and busy that bridal fair was last month. :)
@jamithebride: UGH I know!!! I actually said outloud, "I WANT TO KILL MYSELF" lol jokingly of course, but it was SO busy there I couldn't believe that many people are planning weddings.
I know there are some other girls out there, I've seem them lurking around, so come out and meet us!!!!
Haha I think I said the same thing. I also almost got into a fight with a nasty bridezilla at the fashion show trying to take my seats!
Have you done much planning yet? You're getting married on the date I wanted but my FI wanted to wait until 2012. We're trying to find a nice venue right now and not having much luck.
Hi girls! I'm getting married in Banff this October!! Unfortunately I don't live in Calgary, I'm way up north of Edmonton
@jamithebride: hahah, oh man. I don't think I'll be going to another show again.
We've got our venue which is the same for reception and ceremony (Sirocco Golf Club) and they take care of the catering/alcohol, so we just have to pick the menu and then we just booked our jazz band for the reception last night (awesome btw, if you're looking for one!) we have the harpist for the ceremony, I have my dress, my MOH and BM, our photographer. That's all! But we've been engaged since Aug '09 so we've had a long time to plan things.
@Bostonsmom: darn, would have been nice to have you come too! Banff is going to be beautiful in October!! Congrats!
@jamithebride: Miss Cinnamon Buns is Calgarian. So are a bunch of other bees, actually. : ) Can't remember their names off the top of my head, though.
@Jenniphyr: send them this way!! I want to meet ladies, I'm so jealous of the other bees who get to meet up :)

A Calgary meet-up would be totally fun! I work silly hours though, and can rarely make it to stuff like that. :( I can't remember the last time I went to my knit night! And, I couldn't make it to the wedding fair. Mr. CB's mum tried to take him, but decided against it. :)
I still think we should totally try for a meet-up though!
@cinnamonbun: ya that would be awesome. Maybe you can let us know what times work best for you and we can work around that?
Calgarian here!! A meet up would definitely be fun, I would try to make it for sure.

Are we thinking daytime or evening?
The only days I'm guaranteed to be free are Mondays. Apart from that, my schedule changes every couple weeks. It makes regular standing things like yoga or fitness classes, language classes, knit night, etc, very hard to do.
If we're thinking weeknight (after 7pm), before Feb 26th would be good. If we're thinking weekday daytime, after March 11, but before April. If we're thinking weekends, I'll send my best wishes, and be with you in spirit. :)
There's a reason I'm taking June off, and it isn't entirely the wedding!
I'd be interested! Planning an Edmonton wedding, but I live here in Calgary... My schedule is a bit crazy, so I'd have to see what day everyone else picks, but weeknights tend to be a bit better for me...
I'm thinking a weeknight would be best. The only evenings I'm free are Wednesday, and then Tuesday starting in March.
What does everyone think of Wednesday, February 16th? @cinnamonbun: do you know if you're free that day yet?
@Ryansgirl: Calgary bride here! It seems there is a very small number of us. I had a friend who got married at Sirocco Golf in Sept and the pictures turned out GORGEOUS... I'm excited for you. Who is your jazz band?
A meet-up would be great... After school is out in April!
Wed. Feb 16th is a no go for me, I'm headed on vacation that night... and for about a week there after...
@bananejaune: aw, thank you!! Sirocco is just beautiful, we're big golfers and the clubhouse is just our style, so it was perfect. I remember golfing there a few years ago and saying to my then bf, "we should have our wedding here, it'd be perfect!" And here we are!
Our jazz band is the Rick Climan's Jazz Group. He doesn't have a website, but if you email him, he will give you more information. We met him in person last week, and he showed us his extensive portfolio, and the price was right!! He also gave us a cd sampler and as soon as we popped it in the CD player, we were hooked!

I'm in Calgary!!! Airdrie actually but coming to Calgary really isn't a big deal at all!
My schedule is usually pretty open so once a date is set, I'll see if I can make it :-)

Okay, what about Wednesday, March 16th at 7pm? How does that look for everyone so far?
Husbands home on March 16th (he works out of town, 14 days out and 7 days home) but if we have nothing planned that night, I'll definitely come!

Come mid-March, the only evenings I have off are Mondays and Sundays. As I said, my schedule is hellish to arrange things around, and I understand that, so don't feel bad if I can't go, much as I wish I could be there!
@sceeder: You're one of two members I've come across from Saskatchewan!

Sorry! I actually meant he's just home during that time. He actually flies in on Tuesdays and leaves the following Tuesday. His flights usually get into Calgary between 7:30 and 9:00 pm.
So March 15th really won't work for me :-(
darn, well maybe we can try again a little later in the year when school's out for some, and there is more options for everyone to meet up!
I just heard that I have a Tuesday evening off on March 29th, if anyone is still interested in a meet-up! I will also have evenings free the week of April 4-11. Should we wait until later in the year? I have June off, but I might be bringing wedding crafts to the meet-up! ;)
Hi Calgary brides.... just wondering if we should maybe give arranging a meet up another try? I'm just about to start travelling for work again, but maybe people are a little more free this month? What do people think?
I also see that we have a new Bee, Miss Gazell, based in Calgary- so awesome to see more Canadian Bloggers!
I'm up for trying in April :-) DH is working a different schedule now. He's only home from April 17th to the 21st this month. So any other days should be good.
I'm free next week, April 4-11 any time, and evenings after 7pm until the 24th. I'd love to meet up with people!
