As long as YOU and your fiance are excited about it that is all that matters!  Honestly that sounds like a fantastic honeymoon so just ignore the haters!

I LOVE California.  Yosimite and the Redwoods are beautiful.  I like San Francisco, although I prefer San Diego.  The wine country is fun.  The Southern Cali coast is amazing.  Are you going south?  Take the PCH.  I love, love, love San Diego.  I tried to talk my FI into going there for our honeymoon.  I also love Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano.  I’d skip LA all together, but that’s just me.

Dude, who freaking cares what anyone else thinks about your honeymoon? You don’t need to justify it to anyone! Sounds like you’re staying more North/Central so you may want to check our Big Sur, the Redwoods, Hearst Castle, and Napa. September is a great time!

I live in northern CA and we’ve even talked about doing something like that for our honeymoon! Yosemite is breathtakingly gorgeous, and you’ll have fun along the coast (though I prefer the northern and central coast to the southern coast). Besides, who cares what other people think of your honeymoon destination? What matters is that you and your new spouse are excited about it and will have fun!

I live here in the SF Bay Area and it IS AMAZING! There are sooo many gorgeous Bed & Breakfasts along the coast. SF has so much to do and Yosemite is just breathtaking. As suggested, the Redwoods up north is just mind boggling to see and think how long they have been there (love the trees you can drive through). Sounds like you guys are the outdoorsy type and Northern California is perfect for that. September is the perfect time as we usually have Indian Summer up here so it should be warm and clear and just beautiful.

cpa333:  I ‘m not underwhelmed, I’m so jealous! Think it’s a great idea. It’s a trip of a lifetime for us being in England! Enjoy and be sure to post pics so we can all swoon over the sunshine.

cpa333:  I’ve heard Hearst Castle is amazing! Somehow, despite having grown up camping at San Simeon (nearby campground) I have NEVER been there. If you’re up for a drive into the high country, head into Tuolumne Meadows from Yosemite (if the road is open). Honestly, I’d probably extend the amount of time I spend in Yosemite – the central coast is gorgeous, but . . . well, within one minute of my description of Yosemite as breathtaking, another Bee said the same thing! Spend a day walking around the Valley Floor, go and visit a falls or two, go into the high country . . . Hmmm this is sounding pretty good! Maybe I’ll try and talk my fiance into going to Yosemite for our honeymoon 🙂

Hi!  A California bee here!  Yes CA is BEAUTIFUL from south (well minus LA lol) to North.  My FI and I are currently living in OC but moving to central CA in three weeks, we are excited!  Yosemite is beautiful..San Fran is romantic and so fun!  While you are in SF, drive down to HAlf Moon BAy, it is a really really romantic quaint little town…and if your FI likes golf, it is a fantastic spot for that as well.  Obviously you know all about the Glden Gate Bridge etc. And yes like another poster said The HEARST castle is amazing!! My FI And I went about  amonth ago..the bus ride up the hill to the castle is absolutely out of this world breathtaking, we loved it:)  I reccomend you guys just drive south from SF, stop in Half Moon, stop in Big SUR and Carmel (tons of art and painintgs galore), beautiful beautiful coastline and then hit the heasrt castle and then swing in land to Paso Robles for wine tasting and then head back up to SF for your flight out or whatever.   WE are actually going to do our own honeymoon on the CA coast and then go to Hawaii for our 1 year anniversary:)  CA is beautiful,  be estatic and proud of your choice:)

I live in California, so it’s silly to me that people visit here for a honeymoon. But…. I have also never driven the coast, and I’ve only been to San Fran a couple of times. I live 3 miles from the beach, so I guess it has less impact to me. 😉

If you’re excited about it, that’s what’s important. We went to Ireland for our honeymoon and I can tell you right now, I’m sure a lot of those people think the same thing I do about where I live!

Mrs.Sawyertobe:  You made me laugh about skipping LA lol right there with ya….ugh I hate LA!!!  I love San Juan (Hidden House Coffee Shop right by the railroad tracks is to die for) and Orange County and San Diego areas..but yes LA is not my cup of tea:)
