Has anyone used calla lilly bouquets or centerpieces? I had my first florist experience and although the price he quoted didn’t seem (gulp) too bad I still can’t feel comfortable about spending that much money on something that is only for a couple of hours and will sort of fade in the background during the evening. I did poke around fifty flowers and found some amazing calla lilly packages but am unsure if I can pull this off myself. Help!

I am doing Calla’s!
However, I have saved up points from my local grocery store and so I am getting my flowers for free! The florist at the grocery store also said that the 1070 worth of flowers that I am getting would cost between 2500 and 3000 at a private florist.
We are getting:
30 calla’s in my bouquet
18 + freesia’s in my girls bouquets (3)
1 calla for boutineer’s (5)
2 calla’s for corsages (2)
10 calla’s + freesia’s in the centerpeices (7)
– these are all hot pink mini calla’s
I hope this helps you to get an idea of other calla costs. I would also check out your local grocery and big box stores!

i only did bouquets, 30 black callas in mine and 10 for each maid, we made them ourselves the night before and they looked rediculously good. they are a very sturdy flower and very easy to arrange, we used floral tape and straight pins, and then wrapped with pretty ribbon. just print out good pictures of professional bouquets and use them as reference when making yours, you’ll notice they all follow the same pattern. i have pics in my gallery (which i can’t view at work, otherwise i’d post them for you).
i absolutely love the submerged idea-never thought to do that with callas!
please for the love of all that is holy do not buy them from a florist. i was getting quotes of over $10 per flower and couldn’t believe they could say that to me with a straight face. fiftyflowers.com is wonderful, i bought mine 30 for $100, and it gets cheaper per flower the more you buy. they have gorgeous colors too. also, surprisingly, my local grocery store had them for $1 per flower. this was the very end of April in Pennsylvania though, you should check this October around your local stores to see if anyone carries them at that time.

Since you’re in NY you can get free shipping with from blooms by the box. They’re about $3 – $4 / flower . Which is soooo much better than the typical cost of $9 -$10 / flower. They’re also great because you only have to buy in groups of 10, so you can buy only around how many flowers you need and not a huge bulk amount.
We made our own hand tied mango calla lily bouquets and it worked out just great using their flowers.

I’m doing red roses and calla lilies – but mine are silk because I’m allergic to the real thing. My Maid/Matron of Honor and I are putting them together ourselves…

found some pics for you. my bouquet took about 45 minutes, the maids took maybe 20 minutes each.
don’t mind those 2 floppy guys, it was brutally hot that day.

My Future Mother-In-Law is a florist, and she was telling me that even AT COST she is shocked at the sky high prices of calla’s these days!
This is my favorite call bouquet.

sorry for the delayed response ladies, those flowers are beautiful! i’ve been looking at fiftyflowers.com as well as costco.com so i will most likely go the route of diy. my sister’s friend worked in a floral shop so i may enlist her help too.

If you check out Bunches Direct, go to http://www.bunchesdirect.com they have tons of low cost bulk/wholesale as well as premade wedding flowers. I am considering using them because I don’t have a huge budget for my wedding but I want something nice.
