I'm using them too, but I'm making my own bouquets. I'm getting a practice bunch next week so that I can play with them and see how many I'll need.
18 sounds like a lot but I've noticed that some of the "larger" flowers tend to be a bit narrow so maybe they need more of them.
I am having mini callas I will be using probably around that many (my BM will be having 12 in theirs I know) and I also will be having ivory roses in mine - I want a REALLY big bouquet for some odd reason though.
If you are using regular callas that might be HUGE if you have 18. The stems are so large and thick that it might make it a whopping 2 hander!
I'm using callalillies. Not sure which colors yet but i don't think 18 is too many.It really just depends on how big/small you wnat your bouquet to be.

They will be the minis - apparently only the white ones come in regular size!
Ohh, well if they are minis then I think 18 sounds about right.

Colored callas are always mini. The big ones only come in white. I don't think 18 sounds like a high number. They tend to make a pretty small bouquet otherwise.
I am also using mini orange calas and my florist is using 20 in my bouquet. I want my BM's bouquets to be smaller versions of mine so she will use 10-12. I think 18 is a great number.
Oooh I'm using orange calla lillies too! I didn't think that only the whte ones come in the full size... I was a BM a few years back and the BMs carried three orange calla lillies and I'm pretty sure they were full size, unless what is considered "mini" isn't all that small. Weird. I'm gonna need to get to the bottom of this now.

Depends on the size of the blooms... but 18 doesnt seem like alot
I just counted out the ones from that bouquet picture - that looks like about 36 in that bouquet!
Hmmm I am a little worried now, because 2 bees said that only white callas come in regular size, but I am 'apprently' getting mini callas in white....hmm a myster I must solve
Yeah that picture does have way more than 18... I would ask her about more lillies. But it sounds beautiful!
I'm using calla lilies for the bouquets in our wedding, but we are using only about 7 long stemmed ones.
I think white may come in regular and mini sizes.
I am going for a smaller look than the bouquet shown so I think 18 will work!
Also, I am surprised by the number of people using orange callas!
My florist was calling the large orange callas, Mango Callas so I think there are some larger than the minis. I have no idea how many my bouquet will have, I just showed her a picture of what I like so I guess I'll see after October 17!

I'm using the regular-sized white callas for my DIY bouquet, and I'm planning on using 2 big stems of hydrangea with about 12 large white callas and some greens. If they are mini's, thought, 18 really isn't that many.
My florist says there are 3 sizes - Large (regular - white) and small and medium mini calla's!
The fist picture of orange callas's were small mini's and the 2nd was medium mini's I believe!
I am having 14 pink med mini Calla's in my bouquet!

Is it all calla lilies? It's probably fine if that's the only flower in the bouquet, unless you're going for a more simple look. My bouquet is going to be mixed flowers with orange callas but then then a couple bridemaids will carry a small bunch (5) of the callas, but it is a fairly small bouquet.
@ bvig - I am doing small bunchs of callas for my bridesmaids too. I slightly worried that they will look wimpy but I'm going for simple and elegant. I'm sure they will look fine, I'm just being paranoid, right!?
I read somewhere (a site selling calla lillies, of course) that a bridal bouquet should have 40 if you're doing minis. I think it just depends on how full you want it to be.

I am doing the same thing with the small bouquets of mini's - ive currently got them down for 6 - luckily my florist is going to let me play with them when she gets some in too make sure I am happy with them.
I will let you know what comes from this!
I used callas in my bouquet -- it was gorgeous! My florist used 30 mini callas.

Bridebella -- Just saw your post. You're using calla lilies too? First it was the same shoes, now the same flowers. Could our wedding be anymore alike?

Wow! Bridebella and Erindesmar, don't you LoVe the shoes?? I have worn mine several times since our May wedding. We should go into the orange shoes wedding business! :)

Anyone else using callalillies for their bouquet? I am having orange ones. My florist recommended 18 in the bouquet, which, for some reason, sounds like a lot.
Any thoughts?
