So I am just booking my calligrapher and I realized I have NO idea about a very important issue! I know the calligrapher writes the guests names and addresses, as well as OUR addresses on the RSVP envelope. BUT...do they also write our names on the back of the envelope for the return address? Or if not, how does that get there? I feel like a label would look weird with calligraphy on the front. I have no idea if thats normal or not though!

ps. the cost really isnt an issue for us for the calligrapher because my fiancee's parents are nice enough to pick up the cost of any stationary and any alchohol (so nice of them!!!) They said we can get whatever we want for those things though, so the cost really isnt an issue here.

You usually have to pay extra for a return address, maybe a dollar an envelope.

I think its fine to just have the calligrapher address the guest's address, and their names on the inner envelope if you are having them.  If you had the return address printed on both the RSVP envelope and the outer envelope flap nobody would give it a second thought.

I would have the calligrapher write your return address as a digital image, have it scanned and printed.  It seems silly to make the calligrapher to go through that much trouble to write the return address on each envelope.  It's not customary to have them handwritten.
