Now that the boards are re-organized (making it much easier to find), let's get some chatter going about our August 2011 weddings!
I'll be getting married on 8-20-11 and already have so many ideas, hopes, inspiration, and projects planned, I can't wait to see what some of my month twins are doing too!
So let's get it started - tell us about your 8/11 wedding!! 
Yay doxies - we're date twins!! What have you decided on so far, any plans made yet?
Hi ladies~ I am hoping for Aug 27th. We are meeting with the event coordinator at our site in March to tour the faclity and hopefully put down our deposit and secure our date. I went to the weddig fair in Minneapolis yesterday and feel like I am now possessed by a wedding demon! :) i am so excited. We are planning at small (75ish) wedding at the bluefin bay resort on lake superior. Beach ceremony, and reception in this room overlooking the lake. can't wait.
After playing with dates for about 8 months the man candy and I have settled on August 6th of 2011 on the Chesapeake Bay at his family's bay house. We picked that day because Aug. 6th was the first time we went to the bay house together and it's also my parent's wedding anniversary! We're having a small (75-80) wedding and his grandfather is a minister so he will be our officiant. People have said we're crazy for planning so far in advance, but I think it's great! We now have a year and a half to sort through all of the ideas we have racked up together from one year of being engaged to make sure we have the perfect wedding for us! For example we have figured out that for our post-rehearsal dinner cocktail party we want to have a game themed night because we started dating over the card game "War".
I will say though, after being engaged for a year now I just want to be married to my wonderful man!
jess1054--sorry for taking so long to respond, i'm new at the weddingbee boards! we are about to book our venue this week and have booked a wedding planner. we're planning from afar (living in midwest while fiance is in lawschool and wedding is on east coast)...hence the long engagement!
Hi guys we get married on 20th August 2011 and I cant wait! I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Have just started looking for wedding dresses. I am not sure which colour scheme to go with as I have my eye on a Maggie Sottero light gold dress so will have to wait and see.
Anyone have any ideas?
We're getting married August 6, 2011. We grew up together, but on August 5, 2006 we went to a party together and spent the whole night hanging out, talking, had our first kiss. Then the next morning, August 6, I got up, went to church thinking WOW, this is something really special. On August 6, 2011 I'll wake up, go to church, and marry my best friend.
I know there isn't a lot of chatter here.... but we set out date with the church & reception hall so I thought I'd welcome myself. August 27, 2011 :)
We're on my maternal grandparents wedding anniversary of August 21 (us 2011, them 1937). We'll have it in rustic Vermont where we live and where my family is from and still currently lives. Every single one of his family members is from out of state so we need to find a location that is convienent to their accomodation needs, but not too far for my family to travel from home. We plan to make most of what we can possibly including picnic tables for our family style BBQ reception. We'd like to make it simple on everyone by having the ceremony and reception at the same venue and both outside. That's what we've set in stone so far and look forward to chatting with you all in the 501 days to come!!
Topsiders! We choose the same date August 6, 2011 (though its not set in stone yet) for almost the same reason - it was my grandparents' anniversary :)
As far as planning goes, I have almost everything decided as far as what we want (just have to book/reserve the places we've picked. Have close to all the cp supplies, bouquet alternatives (Cute folding fans!) and lots more! (what used to be our Christmas closet has become the wedding closet & theres still more wedding stuff all over the bookcases, etc.)
The only major thing left to decide/figure out is our officiant...but once we book the ceremony site, they have a list of recommended officiants so I'm hoping that will solve that dilemma.
I'm an August 20, 2011 bride. We got engaged 10.24.09. We are having a long engagement because I'm a student (as well as working full time) and we wanted me to graduate before we got married. We started planning in January and have a reception hall, a great photographer and have the guest list almost done. It's so hard to focus on school when all I want to do is wedding stuff!!!
@HeatherAnne11, that is so awesome! It's neat that you were able to plan your wedding date around your first kiss!
Just booked our wedding for August 27, 2011. It is two days before my birthday so definitely not my first choice of date but it was literally the only date open at the venue we wanted from May to November of 2011! Already told FI that this does not mean I do not get two separate gifts....LOL!
Don't worry my date is one day away from my FI Bday....happy bday to you!!
Hi ladies, I'm getting married on August 6, 2011. I met my FI on August 11, 2006 for the first time. We had met online and began chatting about 3 months earlier.
Getting married saturday August 7, 2010!
Mostly everything's done..just to work on my dress and the mens' ties now! Headed saturday to ATL's vineyard vines store to look and match swatches of fabric w/the bridesmaids.
We've done a slight color change! Adding in to our gorgeous palette of grassy green and a brighter pink, we're tossing in some preppy navy blue!
It's gonna soooo be awesome! We've worked hard on this, and at the suggestion of one of my bm's who also along with my sister who's heavy into design, the suggestion of the pops of navy being introduced is awesome!

I have also picked a band &DJ, a venue, a dress and a photographer!! Im trying to get all the bigger bits out of the way, so I can sweat the small stuff later on :-)
Hi Ladies! I'm on August 6th of 2011!!! Only 447 days left, i.e. a SMALL ETERNITY! LOL! Anyways I've gotten a few of the big things out of the way! The ceremony site, the reception site, the dress, the pastor and the photographer. Those were all knocked out in the first month we got engaged, and now we're just being lazy. I gues I figure the D.J. is the one of the only other date specific things so I guess that's next up :) Cannot wait!

I'm also shooting for August 20, 2011 and am also from Washington! Yay Nortwest brides! I think that date is popular because it's one of four Saturdays in August and has a nice ring to it - well, in my opinion.
We haven't done much yet, we know where our venue is but haven't secured it and have made a guest list and are looking at photographers.
How early is too early to go dress shopping?
Hi everyone! I'm an August 13, 2011 bride!
We originally were aiming for October, but then I got into my graduate program and we decided that getting married mid-semester would be too tough. So August it is! SO stoked!!!
Re: dress shopping... I'm super indecisive, so I don't want to go so early that I'll change my mind about my dress 6 months before the wedding, but I also don't want to go so late that I feel rushed in picking something. I'll probably start sometime this fall... Like maybe September?
Other August 13 brides, have any of the rest of you had comments made about eventually having an anniversary on Friday the 13th? I hadn't really thought about it, but my future niece-in-law made a comment about it yesterday. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me at all, and I'm not changing my date, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any comments made about it.
well our anniversary right now is sept 13th and weve had a couple but it never bothered us but we get it a lot from other people that it means our relationship wont last ever and crap lol, we almost went with august 13th!
dress shopping? ive started looking but no fittings or anything just to see what i like i take a look like maybe once a month or every two months just to see if anything changes in what i like.
Where is your venue? we've been having trouble finding one and yeah we havent done too much yet we will probably get more serious around end of august and into september as it starts getting closer
Hello Evryone our wedding date is August 6, 2011. Althou i have to call my reception hall to confirm it 2morrow.
And i was just wandering acording to numerology is this a lucky or unlucky day to be getting married. Not that i belive so much in it, because evryone makes their own luck, but still it be good to know the meaning of this wedding date.?

Hesmywatermelon...yay for date triplets! I am so prepared with all my planning I don't even have much left to do...I wish it would come faster but I am trying to enjoy just being engaged!
Getting married 8-20-11 too! That's my brothers birthday as well so I figured it would be easy to remember. Getting married at an apple orchard/farm and having the reception in the rustic barn on site :)
August 26th 2011! Just got engaged in May - but we've been talking and planning for much longer than that. We've got the venue, band, officiant and photographer booked. So excited to meet everyone!

how much planning has everyone done so far? believe it or not, i've already purchased my dress, veil, headband, wedding band... we've booked a photographer, the reception hall, and have narrowed it down to two churches in my fiance's hometown/area...
We're getting married Aug 6, 2011. It seems so far but so close at the same time! I'll be at school for the year so I'm trying to get some good planning done before I go back. We've got the church, reception hall, photographer, and dj. I'm a little weary of going dress shopping so early because I don't want to get something and then over the next year decide I dont like it. How far in advance do people recommend dress shopping?

@Devy Bug- Im so glad to hear someone else is as prepared as me,its annoying that some pople tend to treat it as so far away its not real, so why bother yet? But its getting to about a year now so hopefully it will stop!
I am meeting with a florist on saturday, I think she may be 'the one'! Very excited to finally start putting stuff together- I might even look to start some DIY stuff!Eak!

@Miss Baker--I am an August 6, 2011 bride as well, yay! As far as dress shopping goes, if you're indecisve like me, I would recommend going a little later. I just did the ROTB and picked a dress....and while I love it, I am still watching SYTTD and itching to try on other dresses, so yeah, kinda frustrating!
I am an August 6th, 2011 Bride as well!!f =) We are super excited and I've already booked our church, Pastor, Cake lady & found some dresses that I like :)
I'm an August 27th bride! Super excited! We have our venue, photographer, decorator and officiant booked. I have started the save-the-dates but now Im at a complete stand-still...enjoying the last of our summer weather and will jump right back into planning as soon as Fall starts :)

Hey girls! My name is Stephanie and just wanted to say I am in the same boat as you! Me and my fiance KNOW we will be getting married in August... We just aren't sure which day yet! (We will know in October due to certain circumstances - but hopefully earliar if possible!)

We got engaged last Oct & we have the venue, ceremony location, caterer, officiant, photographer, & DJ booked. I'm DIYing many things, and we're semi-destination, so the STD's have gone out already, and the invites are 80% done (not going out until spring, I'm just way ahead...) I ordered my dress (arriving Oct?) & have my shoes already! I'm in school right now, with 5 weeks remaining, and I'm finding I JUST. CANT. FOCUS. Ah! I just want to do wedding stuff! :) I practically can't sit still anymore.
Tired of hearing "oh you have so much time" & ready to start really DIYing & planning & becoming the belle of the ball. Yes, I'm the girl that's been planning her wedding since she was 6 :)

I'm an August 2011 bride too. We are hoping on the 13th and we will find out on Tuesday if our venue is available.
We are just starting to book everything now, it's going to be a little trickier because we are currently living in Alberta but are moving to and getting married in Vancouver.
I cannot wait until I get to really start everything. I've picked the dress and we agreed on wedding colours. We are planning on having about 60-70 people and just having a super chill good time.
Question for everyone, when is everyone planning to mail out invites? Everyone from my side but 2 guests will be coming from out of Province. Should I give more time then???
