@txrodeo:  I’ll be in LA for a few days at the beginning of October. I’m not super familiar with the area but I’ve been down there two or three times. We always like Venice Beach, the Venice Canals, Abbott-Kenny area. Last year we took a short trip & saw the Queen Mary in Long Beach… I’ve been really wanting to check out the Observatory (Griffith Park), LaBrea Tar Pits & Getty Museaum but we never seem to make it to those sides of town…. The Roosevelt hotel has an awesome rooftop bar that’s been on my “must see” list for quite a while…

Go to both Getty museums, they are fantastic. I love all of west hollywood. If you’re out toward the valley Portos (there’s one in Glendale and one in Burbank) is an AMAZING cuban place. Walk around Santa Monica 3rd street on a Friday or Saturday night for free entertainmet. If you’re on 3rd street during the day rent a bike and ride to Venice.

In N Out burger!!!!  It’s my favorite place to eat  =o)  Be sure to get the fries “animal style.”  Don’t feel silly about ordering it that way – it’s delicious and I order them like that all the time!

I live in LA and this is what I would suggest to anyone visiting.  You need to go to Jitlada for Thai food.  Order from the Southern Thai menu.  Excellent, unless you don’t like authentic or spicy Thai. LA has excellent thai food.  Check out Grifith Park Observatory for the best veiw of the hollywood sign (it’s really unimpressive anywhere else).  You could have afternoon tea at the Penninsula in Beverly Hills.  We had our engagement photos taken here!  I know a TON of restaurants (major foodie) but would need to know what areas you’ll be in to narrow them down!  Escondido Falls in Malibu has excellent hiking.  I tend to steer clear of Hollywood blvd.  I suppose it has some history but…Yuck!
