Not engaged, but from Ontario and out of my 4 friends who have recently(ish) gotten engaged

1 of them opted for a non-diamond ring

1 of them has about a .6 round

1 of them has about a .75 round

1 of them has a .5 princess cut on a dainty band (it’s gorgeous!)

Ontario is a huge area, what is normal for toronto, is likely INSANE for someone in Northern Ontario….

I’m sure you’re aware of the size of Ontario, I just mean to point out, that it depends on region more specifically than province wide.

@Ms.Meghann:

Definitely.

But age and socio-economic status also play a role.

My e-ring is .35tcw. It’s sort of like a mini-halo, or a cluster (size 7 finger for comparison).

From Toronto – just over 1 carat radiant (but tcw is just over 2).

My girlfriend (also from Toronto) has a 1 carat round.

@NinaS:  we may be ring twins!! But i have a solitaire radiant at just over a carat.

alot of girls opt for the halos in my area. so my solitaire is pretty big. I dont think i have seen many people with a 1ct center stone.

@Swizzle:  YAY for radiants!! I rarely see them around – and yes, I look at other people’s rings a lot more often now! Mine is actually a 1carat center stone in a double halo. I’ts HUGE but only cause of the halos. Ring size is 5.5

There are definitely a lot of factors at play here even within regions. Just in my group of friends, size tends to vary drastically but I do feel like you can’t go wrong with a 1 carat. I’m from what used to be referred to as North York and mine is slightly over a carat.
