Hi bees!
My fiance and I decided last minute to do engagment pictures. We are getting married April 9th and want to do just a few engagement pictures. Our theme for the wedding is crystals and bridges of Pittsburgh. Anyhow what should we wear? Any cute must have pics for winter engagement sessions? Anyone have any pics of couples near or on bridges? Please help!
How about you in all white (w great white sweater and winter white slacks) and him in a great tan cashmere sweater and a great pair of khaki slacks.
OOOh I love it! Sooo classy! Now what kind of shots and good ideas for one with brides since we are naming our tables after bridges in Pittsburgh? Thanks so much!
What color shoes... Black okay? If I can't find white slacks will jeans or black plants work? I'm weird about finding the perfect pair of white pants... I've tried forever to find a nice pair and never find a pair that isn't completely see through.... I'm thinking of something classic from white house black market

Great find ACountryCowgirl. I think a nice pair of dark jeans will work just as well as white pants. Are you doing classic shots? eclectic? fun and playful? I went the classic route but mine were over the summer.
tan boots perhaps?? and i have two pair of wonderful white pants, but i got them from macy's i think... express should have a great pair...but these are great as well...

@ Dive Thanks you so much for the bridge pics! How did you find those? I was going to google engagement bridge pics but have been distracted but the winter engagement pics. (Express has them now? Like a wool blend pair? I will have to check it out)
@ Myra I have no idea what kind of shots we want. Originally we werent even going to do engagement pics. (We got engaged last December on my b-day.) So many have told us that we should do them and now since im doing the bridge theme I really want a pic of us on a well known bridge in Pittsburgh to frame and put near our Pittsburgh bridge guestbook print.
I know I don't want the typical staged pics. I want fun and different creative pics that are still really cute. We like to have fun together. I wouldn't say eclectic but what would be an example of a shot like that. Same with classic? While I'd love for FI to wear the cashmere sweater he is more into the jeans and t-shirts.... I'm lucky if I can get him into a button down....We are complete and total opposites..haha but I guess opposites do attract. :)

I think you guys should wear something that reflects your personalities, and looks like the best version of yourselves. Just make sure you have a blast with it. If its your wedding photographer doing your e-pics. its a great opportunity to get to know them and learn each other's styles.

i googled bridge engagement pictures :D lol!! and i agree with myra you should definitely wear what you usually do! i usually wear a lot of whites and M wears a lot of tan colors.. he actually has a tan blazer and a white sweater... lol!!!

OKay so Myra yours were the more classic route and Miss Scissors were eclectic? BTW you pics were so cute... I love the one of him kissing your forhead! (I added it to my list of fav engagement pics!)Do you have an example of fun/playful engagement pics? The person doing our engagement pics is our photographer and she wants to do them so she gets to know us before the wedding so that is another reason I decided to get them done even though it's so close to the wedding now.
You are right that what we wear should reflect are personalities...My style is more of a classic banana republic thing...
@ Diva I love the look you're going for and will have to check out the pants. Do you have a pic of someone in this all white outfit?
I'm also thinking of just wearing my peacoat for some of the pics with my Burberry scarf and earmuffs? Cute or cheesy? My fiance is a midly obsessed with hunting and just got this rediculious rabbit skinned hat that he LOVES. I can see him wanting to wear it in the pics!

YES exactly! What about the scarf and earmuffs? Too much! I found this cutest pic of a couple doing snow angels and I thought it would be adorable
So now what about my hat and scarf? I want it to be cute and fun but maybe I should just wear a plain tossle cap and scarf instead of the burberry ear muffs and scarf. I have a black fitted peacoat. What do you girls think?
i think the earmuffs and scarves would be sooo cute especially if you rocked the attitude with it..

Diva those are too cute... The thing is my hubby to be is NOTHING like the guy in that pic....Metro is NOT in his vocab...LOL.....
I'm afraid it will look silly cuz I'll be in my burberry stuff and mike will be in his rabbit fut hat (On the upside atleast his hat isn't camo isn't just solid tan on the outside.)
Do you think it will clash too much with the hunting and burberry look?
Anyone that knows us knows he's all about hunting and that's definitely not me...

I think it might be cute to put the ear muffs on him and I'll wear his rabbit hat for a few pics too but I have no idea if it will look stupid or cute. We like to have fun and be silly and I want our e pics to reflect that.

Okay bees which white sweater... I'm just going to go with my dark jeans I think...It's most me....Not sure about shoes yet.... typically heels but if we are in snow... might not be the best... so either uggs or boots?

Haha Diva you are my new bee bff! I know he would so love that! I don't know if that is too much or over the top but I think it is definitely us and I'd stick my ear muffs on him just for kicks!I definitely want to borrow his hat... It may not be the cutest thing but it is soooo warm! I tried it on yesterday and he took a pic of me in it and it actually looked pretty cute on! So you think I should go with heels even in the snow? I am debating between heels, flats and boots.... Not sure which! Thanks for responding... I think all my anal retentiveness scared the other bees away from this post!
1 or 7 are my favorites, but if I have to choose I'm really digging #1...shoot I may even go get it for myself, lol.
We did some winter e-pics. You can see some of them toward the bottom of page 1 and on page 2 of my gallery.
we had engagement photos taken last weekend. it was 20º out that day so it was really hard to function, but we still had a great time taking the pictures. i wore a simple tan button turtleneck from the gap and a pair of jeans. my fiance wore a dark brown sweater and khaki pants. it was too cold for me to care what i wore really, i just wanted to be warm. in the end we decided to just wear our jackets for the rest of the outdoor shoot, because it was too cold to not wear them. my jacket was a plain black one from the gap with toggles. i also wore a black hat and my burberry scarf.
Yay! More bees came back to give opinions!
Lillindy - I like number 1 too. It is one of my top choices but I wasn't sure if it was too "trendy" for e pics. I want something classic that when I look back at these pics 15 years from now still looks nice and my kiddos won't say " Eww mom what were you wearing!" LOL

i love the 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th... my favorite is the cowl neck though it's very sexy and fun!! and ummm i'd rock the heels (or boots with heels) i mean it's not for that long right? (what part of the country are you in again?) nevermind pittsburg is probably colder than hayle! but i'd still put them on for a wittle tiny bit :D (can you tell I'm a stiletto girl!)

Iggies... thanks for sharing... jeez 20 degrees..... I bet you two were freezing. Did your photographer do any super cute shots that you care to share? What kind of shoes did you wear?Was it snowing? I really want to do a pic of snow angels I think it is adorable. Must of our pics will be on one of the main bridges in Pittsburgh but then I want to do some cute ones in the snow. I just hope it isn't quite as what you and your man had to brave!

I like #2 (if you want more fitted/have a great figure) & #3 (if you're like me and are happier when drape-y goodness can hide a few flaws and be uber flattering). The Anne Taylor Loft ones won't load for some reason. Probably my internet being argumentative. :)
no unfortunately we didn't get to take any snow angel shots, but we did take some photos in this weird snow fort that we found on the campus of the school we took our pictures at! i haven't gotten the disk yet of our photos (i've been away and keep forgetting to email our photographer), but i'll post a pic of that snow fort one when i get it. it wasn't snowing the day that we took the pictures, it was supposed to that night, but it never did! here are some of the ones that we took that are on his blog now. you can see my shoes in them (they're by bc footwear), i really had no idea what to wear!

Daydreamer... I like number 1, 2 and 3 the best... I think 2 is classic and will never go out of style.... The more I think of it I'm worried to do a white b/c of how see through white will be in pictures.... That and white isn't the most flattering color. I'm thinking now of like an off white or beige color. I'm going to go to Ann Taylor tomorrow and try them both on.
What about black girls? Think I should stick with a white color or just do black?
