I am in the process of putting together my program for our full mass ceremony and skimming the readings. I need a first reading from the Old Testament and a second from New Testament.
I like a lot of them and really can’t decide. What were your choices?

We were given a packet from our priest that had the “popular” choices (about 20 per section – Old, New, etc.) basically I read through them all, flagged my top 5, and then narrowed it down with FI to top two and then top 1! I don’t have my choices with me though, sorry. but perhaps that strategy will work for you? I know I wouldn’t want to pick someone else’s readings just because they were suggested to me… pick the ones that represent your relationship best!

- Wedding: October 2014 - Church
First reading – Ruth 1:16-17
Second reading- 1John 4:7-12
Gospel – Matthew 19:3-6
We also received a booklet from our Parish and I highlighted my top picks, then went through with FI and we narrowed it down from there. The Old Testament was an easy pick for us because it spoke to us right away.

These readings are subject to change but at this point, we’ll most likely be using:
First Reading – Song of Songs 2.8-10, 16a; 8.6-7a
Second Reading – 1 John 4:7-12
Gospel Reading – John 15:12-16 or Matthew 7:24-29 or John 2:1-11 –> we can’t seem to decide between these three

Second Reading- 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:8a
Gospel: Either John 15:9-12 or Matthew 5:1-12a
Can’t decide on an Old Testament reading because I do not like any of the choices in the Together for Life book :/

BurlapnLace: Tobit 8:4b-8, Psalm 34, Eph. 5: 2a, 25-32, and Matt 9:3-6
We were given a book of popular reading choices, but were told we didn’t have to choose any of those.
