This may sound odd seeing as I’m not engaged yet (but it’s imminent!) and my SO has made it clear that “we MUST do those photo things after getting engaged” (his words for engagement pictures).
But in a couple month we’ll most likely be moving out to Illinois. We’ll be about an hour or so from downtown Chicago. We love it out there and have visited many times! Our first time out there we went on a pretty formal date night to Coco Pazzo (sp?) and that was like 2008 I think. So the area is kind of sentimental to us as well.
So any good suggestions for nice locations? Where did you do yours?

do you want to do them downtown Chicago or a suburb? I did mine at st James forest preseve, I loves it there. it’s in warrenville. Also in oak brook there’s a place calles old graue mill. It’s really pretty there, the pics on the websiare doesn’t give it justice. Also in warrenville there’s a place called cantigny that is awesome as well. all those places are about 45 min away from downtown

@ValerieBee03: We did some at Oak Street Beach and also in a little area across from the Drake Hotel (where we got engaged) that has some grass and a gazebo. They turned out amazing! You can get a ton of different “looks” around that area (beach, skyline) so that’s why we chose it.

@MsPiggy: I haven’t really decided yet if it should be downtown or a suburb. I really like the idea of doing down town on a bridge, or a park, or with the skyline. I really love the park with the fountain (I think it’s by the big aquarium or the art museum I forget) but I’m open to some unique, pretty suburbs 🙂
@kat912: That sounds wonderful! I like the idea of having the different “looks” without a lot of travel!

We did ours at Wrigley Field, on one of the many bridges over the Chicago River and inside a really cool lighting store called Lightology.
For our wedding photos, we went to the beach that juts out to the North of Navy Pier– we got great beach, lake and skyline photos, as well as pictures with the ferris wheel in the background.

We did ours at the Naperville Riverwalk. Tons of beautiful scenery, a bridge, water…just gorgeous. I posted some pics earlier…

Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood is my favorite spot to do engagement photos. It’s urban and edgy. I tended to wanted to avoid the touristy super common areas like Millennium Park, Wrigley Field, the museum campus etc. There are always a million people there.

@ValerieBee03: We are doing our e-photos at the Morton Aboretum (in Lisle) ! Its so beautiful.
I would also reccomend if you want good skyline pohotos go up by the Planetarium- popular spot for wedding pics.
