YESSSS

Ooey gooey butter cake from the mystical Paula Deen. So easy, so delicious. I swear my FH eats himself sick every time I make it. It’s good hot, but I find that I like it better after it has cooled. Whenever I want someone to like me, this is what I make.

Cake:
1 18 1/4-ounce package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer.  Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.  Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter and beat together.

Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well.  Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.  Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.

I’m back with a picture because I feel very strongly about this dessert.

It will make you do this:

I package of Crushed mint oreos, leave 5 oof them aside, also crushed in a bowl

I 8oz package of cream cheese

1 package of white chocolate chips (melted)

Pepermint extract

Mix the oreos and cream cheese.  Make small balls out of the mixture.  Put in the fridge for a couple of hours to harden up a bit.  Melt chocolate and mix 1 tsp of pepermint extract in the chocolate.  Dip the oreo balls into the chocolate, and top with a little bit of the crushed oreos you had put aside – must do before the chocolate hardens.  Put in the fridge for at least an hour.

Does he like chocolate? Grahm cracker? Coconut? (well you can skip that one if you like)
Magic Bars… I make them without nuts but they are sooo good.

I often get dirty looks from our friends if I don’t bring them to a party. Meanies. 😛

I think you can cut the recipe down (or just freeze some for later). 🙂

@MlleDarcy:  i just made this and it was delish. i happened to have all the ingredients in my cupboard, and it was super easy. Even had some fresh organic strawberries, so I thinly sliced them and served them on the side. Had it with some rich black coffee. SOOO GOOD.  thanks for posting! I will have to work out a bit harder tomorrow but it was worth it.

@rusticbee2014:  I am so glad you liked it! I made it tonight for company because I couldn’t stop thinking about it after posting this the other day. I have a tummy ache. : )

For anyone else thinking about making it – the key is to take it out just when the top middle starts to firm. It should still be wobbly when you take it out of the oven. As it cools, the heat from the hot pan will finish cooking it. Don’t overcook it or it’s not ooey gooey, it’s just butter cake. The ooey gooey is what makes it delicious!
