Milk chocolate brown tuxes are a no-go for me. They are a 70’s style eyesore that isn’t going to get any better with ivory pants. Make the call ASAP.

BurlapnLace: I would have him change it, but I could be biased because I highly dislike the color brown for clothing…and most other things.

BurlapnLace: No ivory pants! Hope that helps?

If they dislike it, perhaps they should bring it up to him… and you can stay out of it?

However, it’s about as much as his wedding as yours… if he wants the ivory pants and the brown jacket, shouldn’t he be able to?

Disclaimer: I’m being brutally honest because your original post you proclaim that neither you nor your fiance have a good sense of fashion.

The idea of a brown tux makes me cringe, let alone ivory pants with a brown jacket. DEFINITELY nix the ivory pants. Next, I would take some time to seriously peruse the internet for wedding pictures featuring brown tuxes before committing to them. There are many options in the menswear realm that can be unique and classy while still relatively fashionable for a wedding, but I personally don’t find the color brown to belong in that category.

If he wants to be different… maybe the reverse could work? Ivory jacket with brown pants?

I found these photos of white pants with a darker jacket…

BurlapnLace: LOL, I would like to see that! Hopefully he will stay with the much better choice you made for him!

I think brown is very popular for fall weddings and can look nice with the right theme/colors. I personally would never pick it but the last 2 of my closest friends to get married both did brown. 1 in May and 1 in October.

I added some brown wedding suit photos just for reference….

I’m going to echo previous posters: Let’s forget about the ivory pants and nix the entire brown-almost-black-tux concept all together.

If it’s not a black-tux type of wedding and you’re having burlap and lace, then consider a nice grey or navy suit. A PP has shown some lovely, more unique options.

But please, for the love of Tom Ford, no brown tux!!!

(Also, I’m looking at that picture of men in suits and white shoes and I am dying)

If this is something he has his heart set on wearing, I would just let him do it. It’s his look and if he likes it and feels comfortable, its not really your mom or MIL’s place to tell him to change it.

That being said, if he’s not super in love with this look and it was more like “yeah, that looks fine” when he saw the combo because he has no feelings about it either way, you could look into changing it if you think it will look bad- im my opinion, while it’s not the nicest colour combo, it’s not totally terrible.

If you feel like he would be fine with changing it, I would just call the store and ask first, just in case it can’t be changed.
