Hi, My Fiance has recently beed diasgnosed with MRSA. He has completed one full dosage of antibiotics and now is starting his second dose because the MRSA is not completely cured but is looking much better. I am currently on antibiotics for a throat infection/upper respiratory infection. My antibiotic is Cefdinir. Just out of curriosity would cefdinir cure MRSA if I were to accidentally catch it from my FI? Thanks Bee’s!

Cefdinir does not cover MRSA. I’m a pharmacy student and we just did antibiotics last semester 🙂 Best of wishes taking care of your FI!

The reason why MRSA is such a big deal is that it can be pretty difficult to treat. It si called a “superbug” because there are so many antibiotics that are normally used to treat bacterial infections that do not work on MRSA infection. Therefore, when a patient is diagnosed with MRSA they perform susceptibility testing to see which antibiotics kill off the bacteria. This could be different for each patient so I highly recommend you SEE YOUR DOC if you think you might have MRSA!
