I'm not wearing this dress but I just wanted to comment and say that it's so pretty! :)
I've always really liked this dress. It's so feminine and whimsical! In fact, I love the ruffle detail at the neckline so much that I might be adding that to the sweetheart neckline on my dress.
@Leafy - Thank you for the kind words!
@Tulip61110 - If you do I'd love to see it. I have to admit, the shape and the polka dots are what got me, but now that you mention it the little ruffle is quite feminine and pretty on its own. Thanks for helping me appreciate that little detail. :)
I LOVE this dress, was gazing at it just a few hours ago. I haven't found my dress, I wish a local retailer had this one for me to try on. :(
I love Dora! Your hair looks super cute in these pictures, is that how you are wearing it for the wedding?
@jordynrose - I can't decide on my hair! I had that done for our engagement party at a salon that specializes in retro hairstyles (can you believe that exists in Bakersfield? <3!) I loved how it looked, but it didn't last long. The pin curls began to fall out by the time the party started. I know they wouldn't last from 8 am-12am.
I think perhaps it was the stylist, I wanted to go with the award winning stylist who my photographer had recommended but she was in Europe.
And then I got itchy and cut all my hair off. So, right now I'm most likely going to grow it a few more inches and then have my friend (a stylist, yay!) put extensions in for the wedding. I'll probably have a style similar to this, but hopefully with a lot more hair (w/ extensions it should be past my waist) it will appear fuller.
All I'm sure of is that I will have pin curls. Everyone says they love me in pin curls. ^_^
And that was a lot more information than you wanted about my stupid hair!
I saw another bride in this dress...on someones photography page...I think it was Crebre's fav photog...Fola? ...check the blog on Fola's page! :o)
@Ms. Kookie - Thanks! Thats exactly what I'm going for.
@Lovebug333 - I've looked, but so far I have yet to find the pics. I'll keep looking though! Thanks for the tip.
Found it!!! That was driving me nuts, I knew I saw it somewhere...here ya go! :o)
@Lovebug333 - Thank you thank you thank you! Now I'm convinced which way to bustle my gown. If it weren't for those photos I might have made an awful mistake! You rock!
I run a wedding gown business and I have to say you look utterly amazing. Your pictures are the cutest I have ever seen. I love the 50's look. So creative!
It seems like I'm going to be a Dora bride too!
I purchased the dress yesterday from a bridal shop that listed their sample sale here on Weddingbee classifieds - and they were willing to ship over seas. The woman owning the shop was really nice, and I hope this will end well. She responded realy quickly to my emails and we talked on the phone 3 times. Today she hasn't answered my email - I hope she is just busy! I would be very sad if she ripped me off or something...
So if everthing goes as planned I can post pictures of me in the dress by next Friday or Monday.
The dress was a sz 8 so I think it's gong to be a bit large in some places. I hope to find a good tailor that can fix her for me.
Hey! Does anyone have a once worn or sample Dora for sale at a discount? Looking for size 10 or 12 or possibly a 14.... Authentic Melissa Sweet Dora only, please. I have checked out every single wedding website on the internet so, I thought I might have better luck asking brides directly!!
Thank you!!
Ah, Dora. I had a tough time deciding between that one and Fern. Ended up with Fern, and I do love it, but I have to admit I get a pang of dress envy whenever I see a bride wearing Dora.
A little update:
I got my dress some month ago and it is beautiful. I can't believe it! I had been longing for the Dora dress ever since we got engaged but b/c it's an American brand I knew I would never get to wear Dora on my wedding day, now I will and I am som happy.
I will post pics later in another post.
@ Sailor Fern it also a very very pretty dress.
Here are some more Dora pics on real brides:

What a gorgeous dress!
I would LOVE to buy someone's Dora off of them! I am looking for a 10, 12 or 14...I ADORE this dress but it's just a little bit out of my price range!

I feel like I'm the only one wearing this gown! Are there any of my fellow brides rocking the polka dot perfection that is Dora? Tell me I'm not alone!
I'm loving the gown. It isn't what I had planned on buying at all (I had gone in looking for a tight mermaid to hug my bootylicious-ness {can't believe I just said that for the world to hear}) and I can thank my MOH for convincing me to try it on.
We're doing quite a few alterations to it:
1) I hate the way the sash looks, I think it really takes away from the gown, so we're (ok, my seamstress) is starching it and going to attach it to the top of the first steam at the back, under my badonkadonk.
2) We'll be tailoring the skirt to make it more form fitting so it hugs my curves.
I can't wait to see how the alterations come out!
How are you wearing your Dora? Please share pics if you have them!
