So, I’ve just been browsing all moissanite rings for the last hour, got excited about a ring that I found and absolutely love! And was just thinking about how much I love moissanite and how thankful I am that I came across it when choosing my e-ring.
So why did you choose moissanite for your e-ring/wedding band/wedding set/whatever?
I’ll tell you why I chose mine. 🙂
I chose a moissanite because 1.) It was more sparkly. When I first found out about it, I saw that it had more fire and I LOVE sparkly things, including diamonds so I knew I would love moissy stones. 2.) Because the size I wanted was within our price point. My Fiance couldn’t afford a lot, and of course if I got a diamond I would only be able to get a tiny one which I’m not gonna lie, I wouldn’t be happy with, and that would still be way more than what we paid for my current e-ring, so why not get something sparkly, within our budget (even below) and that I would love? 3.) I felt more comfortable with having $600 on my finger, than I would having $2,000 on my finger, just for one ring, not including my wedding band, etc. I just wouldn’t feel rght having that much money on my finger, knowing that we could put that money towards something else.
And of course, I have posted recently about the upgrade I want, it’s about $2,000 all together, the whole set, dimaond side stones with a 1.5ct moissy center. To me, that is BEYOND an amazing deal. 🙂 I just love moissanite! So share why you love it too! And feel free to share pics as well! 😀

well i dont have a moissy, but only because i didn’t know they existed until i discovered weddingbee, which was long after i got engaged. but i think if i had done my research properly, i would have gotten one for your reasons #1 and 2 – sparkly and bigger for cheaper!
dont get me wrong though, i LOVE my 1/4 carat heart shaped diamond!! and i dont think i will ever change or upgrade it because i am so sentimentally attached to it!

@PurpleUnicorn: well yeah of course! 🙂 Sparkly isn’t a bad thing at all! lol But I can see what you mean about the sentimental value, I know a lot of people are that way and won’t ever upgrade which is fine. 🙂 My Fiance didn’t propose with a ring, and even my first ring was a $12 cz, so it has sentimental value but because he didn’t actually propose with it I dont feel bad. haha I still have it though and will keep it for as long as I can before I lose it or something. lol

bump* I know there are more moissy lovers out there 😉

I think I would have gotten one if I had known about them before joining wedding bee! But I think I might get a moissy band.

I love my moissanite beyond beliefe! I actually found it years ago at a local shop in Sacramento, my current boyfriend and I at the time were talking about getting married. I couldn’t believe the sparkle of the stone, or the price tag! Sooooo much cheaper than diamonds, and the dazzle is so much more!! Needless to say he didn’t listen to my wants for moissanite and bought me a nearly flawless and colorless 1/2 ct diamond. The ring was beautiful yes…but it didnt make me nearly as happy as my beautiful moissy ring!! Things didn’t work out between us and when Darling Husband started hinting about ring shopping (many years later) I sent him the moissanite direction and I couldn’t be happier! I love diamonds, they are beautiful, but they just dont make me as happy as a moissanite. I love that one they are ethical in every sense, the price tag is a fraction of the cost for more fire, and I’ve never recieved as many complents on my diamond jewlery as I have my moissay jewlery! (haha I know that sounds vain but its not to have my beautiful jewely…all of it…acknowledged!!) I am a big gemstone lover in gereral! I recomend all my friends check it out, just as I do for the more rare gemstones! What I don’t love about moissanite is being told it is a “fake” diamond. I have some friends who just cant wrap their heads around the fact it isnt a diamond and feel the need to tell me it is a fake! But yaay for Mosisy!! Sorry totally rambeling hehe!

I dont have a moissy e-ring but….. I’m seriously considering a pink or blue moissy rhr!! I dont want a white moissy cause I dont want it to “compete” with my e-ring, but a 1.5 or 2 ct pink or blue, yes please! Maybe a 1 yr anniversary gift

@pinkshoes: I want a blue moissy too…ah they are to die for! 🙂

Mainly because diamonds aren’t worth it to me. I wanted a colorless stone that sparkled a lot, but I found diamonds to be such a racket, not only with the cost, but with the whole “four C’s” thing — BS, just give me a damn stone!! Since moissanite is made in a lab it’s all the same, which to me was a benefit — I know exactly what I’m getting (whereas the 4 C’s are essentially up to the interpretation of the person grading the stone).
The shape and size I wanted was FAR below our budget, which was great — just because we have a budget at $X,000 doesn’t mean we have to spend all of that, y’know? If we can come in drastically under budget, with something even better than what we were budgeting for, then why the heck wouldn’t we?!
Plus, moissanite sparkles WAY more than any diamond I’ve ever seen, and in color to boot! And it’s environmentally friendly.

@Whitanella: completely agree. 🙂 I love diamonds, they are beautiful, but to me they just aren’t worth it. If it looks pretty, then that’s all that matters to me. Price doesn’t mean a thing, as long as it wears good and sparkles like crazy I dont mind.
@pinkshoes: I love the pink moissy’s too! I thought about getting a 2ct round pink solitaire. 🙂
@Kant: yep! I agree comepletely with that as well. My Fiance didn’t have the budget for the kind of diamond I wanted, and if I get a diamond I want one that is “to the eye” flawless, and the ones I see that are still 3, 4, 5k aren’t even that pretty, to me anyway, because you can see the inclusions in them. If I have a stone I want it to be clear and flawless and that’s why I went with moissanite, plus more sparkle 😉 plus the price is just outstanding. lol

1. You get more bling for your buck.
2. It’s white so it goes with every outfit…
3. … but it also has a beautiful rainbow refractive effect (and I heart rainbows).
4. It’s 100% ethical.
5. It’s one of the rarerst gemstones, rarer than diamond.
6. I met my hubby in a planetarium, and moissy are made when asteroids hit the Earth so it went with our love of astronomy.
7. I too didn’t want several months’ salary sitting on my finger like that. I’d rather put the money towards a house someday.
8. It’s tougher than diamond, which means that if you bang it around like I always do it’s actually less likely to chip/crack than diamond.
9. I like the uniqueness of it. On the surface it does look like a diamond. But I like that I have something not too many other women even know about yet.
10. It doesn’t involve mining, which is good for the planet.
11. Do you really need any more reasons???

@pfinarffle: haha love that! 🙂 I’m pretty sure you mentioned every good reason!
And hey ladies! Where’s the pictures? 🙂

@Whitanella: I would also like a blue one 🙂

I wanted a moissanite long before Fiance and I got engaged. I like the price and the history behind it. I think diamonds are way overrated (just my opinion folks!).
