We decided to cut costs by doing all our flowers thru Sam’s Club, they will all be pre made – the bouquets and centerpieces (we are not ordering the loose flowers) but my question is this:
They will deliver the flowers Thurs for our Sat. wedding….the flowers need to be in buckets of water our venue is about 3 hours away, and then once we get there the closest hotel is about 25 minutes from the venue – Do I go up there Thursday, get a hotel, a bunch of buckets with water and then take them in the buckets to the wedding saturday? Going up a day early doesn’t bother me since we have to be up there early Friday morning for the rehearsal, but how is it to drive with buckets of water? I don’t want to put the buckets in the bed of someone’s truck since the flowers will be exposed to the hot August sun….any ideas?

I will say that buckets full of water + car rides are a mess. If you decide to go this route, you will want tall buckets, with less water to splash out. I think I’d go up to the hotel the night before and put them all in water up there. I do think I’d remove them from the water for transport, and put them back in when I get there (have the car cooled down before you put the flowers in there).
I’ve had enough bad experiences transporting water in open containers. Moved our fish tank to our new house and made a mess out of all the cars. Sometimes I think I can still smell the saltwater!

Please post pics when you get them! I am going to order the pre-made bouquets as well and am nervous.

Go to Home Depot and buy the bright orange ‘Homer’ buckets–they’re $2.50 each, and they have extra depth/height for your flowers. Will make transporting much easier and less messy. Also, before leaving, empty most of the water, and have only a few inches of it while driving.
On another note, can you have the flowers delivered on a Wednesday? That way they will have an entire day and a half to recover from their shipping state and they can begin to open up in ideal conditions before being transported again.

Please keep this post going! We’re getting married in 3 months and plan on going this route as well. Do the flowers look great when they’re delivered? I sure hope so….kinda nervous to order them but by the pictures online, they’re beautiful!

We got our flowers the day before the wedding and might i add they were BEAUTIFUL!! We got the 17 piece earth tone set and they were geogeous against the navy blue dresses. The only down side I had with Sam’s was that it took fooorrreeevvveeerrr for them to take the money out of my checking account(didn’t come out till more than a month after I placed the order), not sure if that’s common or not but it was well worth the price we paid for them.

I ordered from Sam’s. They delievered 1/3 of my flowers the day I requested them. 1/3 came the day OF the wedding and 1/3 never made it. They were shipped to the wrong address. Luckily the ones that came were the baby’s breath that I’d planned to use as my primary flower. I wanted hydrangea as well, which never came. They did refund me for the hydrangea and extra fillers I’d ordered to go along with it. Flowers weren’t THAT important to me, so it didn’t really ruin my wedding or anything, but if they ARE important to you, please be aware.
