One of our fellow bees recently married there – kristiew417. If you look at her previous posts you may find some helpful information.

My FI and I have booked our honeymoon there and have heard wonderful things 🙂

I thought this rang a bell … unfortunately, I saw this fairly recent thread from a Bee who sounds like she was not all that thrilled with them:

DONT GO to Secrets St James or Secrets Wild Orchid Jamaica

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Disclaimer: FWIW, I have never been here or even looked into this place as an option, the only reason it caught my attention was I remembered reading the phrase “secrets wild orchid” recently on the Bee and did a search. Haven’t looked at kristiew417’s posts or anything else, so take this with whatever size grain of salt you feel you should.

I saw that post too, but honestly I think she is a one-off with very high standards.

I haven’t gotten married at Secrets Wild Orchid but I vacationed there last year and I liked it!  We actually went to Couples Swept Away a few weeks ago and I did not like CSA at all so hopefully that makes you feel better.  I have been to many, many 5 star resorts, Secrets was actually the first all-inclusive I have ever been to and I thought it was great.  I actually stayed away from all-inclusives because I feared I would be disappointed with them having been used to 5 star resorts.  Secrets Wild Orchid was nice and I think you will be pleased.  Let me know if you want any other information.  Good luck!!

I absolutely would vacation there again.  We booked last minute, on a whim and really didn’t have high expectations at all but it exceeded our expectations.  The food is not five star, for example I will compare it versus five star restaurants in Philadelphia where a dinner for two with alcohol will cost about $250. I have eaten at too many five star restaurants in Philly due to work obligations and I would not equate Secrets at their level.  By comparison, I have dined at many restaurants at Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton Resorts on vacations and would equate their restaurants to five star Philly restaurants but a meal at one of their restaurants with alcohol would cost around $250 for two as well.  So you are correct, the food at Secrets is not five star, I would say more like a low four star.  But I thought the selection was good and the quantity was fine. But I also didn’t go hoping for all you can eat buffets, I personally prefer quality over quantity. I don’t know that we got room service, we travel too much for work and so I hate room service which is typically when I am traveling alone and arriving after a late flight. The other guests were very nice and friendly and I was overall pleased with the service, again no Four Seasons but not horrible which I would say about Couples Swept Away. Let me know if you want any other info
