I'm feeling kinda blah about my wedding weight loss (or should I say, lack there of). I had every intension of starting my diet once we hit the one year mark but did that happen? Of course not. In fact, I just had a McDonalds double cheeseburger for dinner.
I've come to terms with the fact that I'm not going to be my ideal size 14 come time for our wedding so I've decided to embrace the curves.
I still plan to try to diet and lose a few pounds but I know I'm not going to get to where I would like to be.
So size 20+ bees (street size, not dress size), I'd love to see some pictures of you in your wedding dress so that I can assure myself that I WILL look fabulous on my wedding day.
Any takers?
Oh man, I wish I had some photos to share (we should get them back today or tomorrow).
I know EXACTLY how you feel. I wrote a post similar to this about a month or so ago. I was worried how I would look, what people would think, etc. Let me tell you...I did not have a care in the world. Everyone told me I was beautiful; but mostly importantly my husband thought I was gorgeous.
No matter what, you will feel like the beautiful bride you are :) It's nice to see you have such a great outlook and have decided you are going to embrace yourself as you are.
If I get pics back tonight I'll be happy to share them:)
First of all, I'm sure you'll look fabulous on your wedding day no matter what if you hit your goal or not.
With that said, if you're wedding is a year away, you have more than enough time to reasonably set goals and work towards them. I wouldn't give up now! We all know weight loss takes a lot of mental and emotional willpower. You can do it!
@UpstateCait: You are going to look great on your wedding day no matter what, because it's your wedding day! :)
And, thanks! the reassurance is helpful, especially since when I showed my grandma a photo of me in the dress, she said the dress will be 'ok'. :)
Hi - First, don't be so hard on yourself. Wedding planning can be stressful, so it's possible that the lack of weight loss is because of that fact alone. The last 6 months before my wedding was when I took off the weight. I used Jillian Michael's 30 day shred a few times a week and used the Weight Watchers guidelines to reduce fat. I still had McD's, but had a Happy Meal instead. On my wedding day, I felt beautiful in a size 20 gown (needed alterations in bust only). Good Luck and remember you'll be gorgeous no matter what!!!
Mrs. Oyster was a plus size bride and she was AMAZING!!!!! Her bridal shot was one of the most beautiful ones I have seen....plus size or regular size. Totally a gorgeous bride.....don't be so hard on yourself......xoxo
Ditto not being so hard on yourself and oyster's bridals were amazing!!!!!
I recommend giving this blog post a read: http://apracticalwedding.com/2010/07/a-way-to-weigh-what-you-weigh-when-you-wed/
I wore a size 20 on my wedding day and felt as gorgeous all day long. Sorry my picture is so big, I am not a good resizer!

I only have a few, but rest assured you will look great! I too wanted to lose weight, and didnt. I just kinda got over it and realized I am who I am and no matter what, my wedding day will be great. And it was!!
All of you ladies look amazing!
And CaitMarae, Im sure you will too!! AT ANY SIZE!
Anybody interested in selling your beautiful dresses after you get married, lol? I'm a size 18/20 right now, and I don't think I'll be losing any weight any time soon. You are all gorgeous!
I COMPLETELY understand how you are feeling. I vowed to myself that I would start trying to lose when I got engaged (May '09), and then at the one year mark (Jan '10) and at pretty much every month mark since then. I have come to terms that I won't be my ideal size 14 either - but I really don't want to still be my size 20 self. I am 3 months out, so I don't expect miracles, but I am trying to do what I can (she says after scarfing down a Halloween sized Mars Bar). I have started doing Bikram Yoga, and I am BOUND to lose SOMETHING! ...Here's hoping.
And, to make matters worse, I have had major dress regret for months and am pining for a dress I tried on at the beginning of my shopping. I feel like my size 20 body ROCKS this dress, but it just isn't me.
My goal is to lose 15 lbs in a year....i know i can do that i have accepted that i iwll never be skinny and i am 100% ok with that my FI loves me just the way i am...I am a size 18/20 but 2 yrs ago i was a 24/26 so i have love a lot in the last 2 years but i like the way i look right now and plan on staying that way...just 15 lbs lighter to help my dress fit even more perfect!!!
Have you checked out our plus-size dress thread here? I can't believe how it's grown... lots and lots of beautiful plus size Hive members and adding more all the time! :)
I love your attitude! I think the best thing I did before getting married (I wear a 20+) was to accept myself exactly the way I was, get used to it, and accept and love the way I look. The single best thing I did. No diet can do that for you, anyway... and that way you will feel much more peaceful about yourself whether you lose weight or not.
I also, during our engagement, took pictures of myself (or had Mr. Oyster do it) so I could get used to the way I look in photographs; I also actively sought out photos of larger-sized brides, like you are doing! :)
i have a picture or two of me in my wedding dress, and will definitely post more when we get our professional pictures. My posts are here. I wrote about my process of finding a dress and accepting myself here.
Best of luck! You'll be a beautiful bride, of course! :)
I am a size 20/22. I am in the same boat as you! I even bought weight watcher books last week and had In N Out for dinner! Ugh. But here is me in my dress! There are PLENTY of flattering dresses that make us "full figured" women look fabulous!
Iam a size 22 and i got my dress in a few days ago. I actually like the way the dress looks right now on me and really dont want to loose any weight so that i dont have to get it fitted . Plus my FI loves all my curves and i intend on keeping them (for him) lol
@tiggles212002: *GASP* That dress is FANTASTIC! Who's the designer?
@UpstateCait:It is from Davids Bridal This is the name and style number: Strapless Shantung Taffeta Sweetheart Ball Gown Style T3039

I was a size 16/18 when I got married (but I was a size 22 when I met my husband). My goal was to be a size 14 too but obviously that did not happen. I lost about 15lbs for the wedding (within the last 2 months). Honestly dont stress yourself out about loosing weight. Just do your best not to gain weight...hehe. I stressed adn stressed about loosing weight and it literally made me sick. And it was silly, Here are some of my pics :) I think I looked absolutely stunning and I am sure you will be too!
All you ladies look FANTASTIC!!! If you feel beautiful on your wedding day it will shine through.
My dress is a 20w, I love how it looks on me, I wouldn't change it for anything!
Mine is davids bridal v9665 (dress size is 18). Here's at the fitting:
And at my wedding:

I'm not size 20 but I am happy to hear that you're embracing the size you are!:D no need to beat yourself up about not losing weight - I've had to come to terms with that as well
@pixie5697: That's my dress!!! I'm on the same mission as all of us here, but you don't have to lose weight for that one day, I say if you want to do it, do it for your health! I've become a Dr.Oz fan and he has a nationwide mission, loose 10 lbs this year. He says for a woman, 10 lbs is one dress size!! I lost weight by using protein shakes, but the LOW CARB ONES!! Atkins and Slim fast have too many carbs, sugars and calories. I substitue one meal every other day with one, always pack your lunch, you make better choices this way. If you can lose 1/2 lb a week, thats 26 lbs in a year....it adds up, so don't kick urself over it. I love my curves, don't plan on giving them all up...doing it for my health!
@ShelbiDuda: The picture of you in your dress is beautiful. I love that dress! where id you get it?
@tiggles212002: LOVE this dress! I'm going to look for the first time this Saturday and THAT is exactly the style I'm looking for!! You look gorgeous and SO HAPPY!!!
lol! just realized this post is a year old and Cait is married now lol
@tashajaysen: Lol, that's okay. Still nice to see other fabulous voluptuous brides.
