I have been struggling for a while to figure out what I want to do. I am one semester away from a degree in Mass Communications. I interned as a journalist and am no longer happy in my field.
I want to do something where I can help people. I have been considering speech language pathology for a while now, and from everything I have read, I would love the career.
The only master’s program in my area is extremely difficult to get into, have strict GPA guidelines, and only admits 15/students a year. I’m unable to move away, either since my FI has a job he loves here. I’m afraid that I don’t have a chance to get into the program because I haven’t been working towards this like I have a career in journalism.
If I get the bachelor’s degree beforehand, I’m worried I still won’t have a shot.
So long story short: do you enjoy your jobs? How was the schooling – was it more difficult than you expected? Would I be underprepared without a bachelor’s in communication sciences/disorder? Any tips?
