Fiance recently decided he wants to become a volunteer fire fighter for our town (a month ago). Fiance is VERY much into prepping for the zombie apocalypse, stocking up on goods, and now he’s under the notion that he’s going to be kicking in doors and saving people from burning buildings. I know it’s noble, I know it’s a nice thing for him to want to do. In our area, volunteer fire fighters dont get much action though. It’s more about drama between the guys, washing fire trucks, practicing drills, etc.. I recently went to the firehouse w/him to meet the guys, and they are ALL very serious, very hardcore, and I can’t deal. I am NOT such a serious person, and not even a tiny smidge interested in this…and I can’t even try. It’s painfully boring. Fiance goes through phases where he thinks he wants to do something, he tries it, and lets it go. I am PRAYING this is one of those things. This is now occupying his Tuesday evenings for practices, and they have meetings Mondays….I was just a tiny bit of a bitch, and told him he’s taking this awfully serious when he’s probably going to just be rescuing some cats out of trees. I do NOT mean disrespect for anyone who is into this stuff, because I know in some areas, volunteers are worked really hard and do a whole lot….where we are, this is not so much the case. Anyone else dealing with listening to all of this from your man? Ugh.
