@MissMelly:  Tell me a little more about what you are thinking in terms of theme or vibe? That will help a lot more with what I would suggest.

Are you looking for a venue for just the reception or the wedding and reception?  What kind of theme are you going for?

@MissMelly:  I’m going to need more specifics. What are are you looking at? Ceremony and Reception in one place? Indoor or outdoor ceremony?

I absolutely LOVED 413 on Wacouta in St. Paul, but I went with FIVE Event center (a little trendier) since it was closer to my church. Both places have ceremony + reception space and seat up to 200 for dinner. For romantic + snowy, I would definitely go 413. Both places also have a rental fee and allow outside caterers, so you can definitely make them affordable. I think our wedding is going to be in th 15k-19k range, and we had a steep rental at FIVE.

You can look into the Day Block Building on Washington Ave in downtown MPLS. I know they charge a fee to rent the space as a whole, but then you can get catering deals from Spill the Wine since it’s in the same building. I think they give discounts for winter too!

The space is really unique inside and we almost had our reception there, but our guest list got a little out of hand so we had to move to something bigger.

Hey there!

One place to look at is Christos Union Depot in St. Paul.  I’ve been to an event there and it is GORGEOUS!  It would be extra stunning in the winter, I think.  Unfortunately, they do reception only (which is mainly why we ruled it out), but it has a lot going for it otherwise!

Here is some info I received from the site coordinator when I inquired about their pricing:

$1800.00 Facility rental fee for Saturday evenings

$1400.00 Facility rental fee for Friday/Sunday evenings

**Feb- March we waive $650.00 of the Facility Rental Fee

Average pricing for food (menu options sound delicious; it’s all Greek): $36/person (The cost per person for dinner buffets and plated dinners include: Servers, standard linens for all the tables, PA system for announcements/toasts, a surround sound satellite music system for social and dinner music, standard furniture (tables & chairs), standard china & glassware, votive candles (3 per table), gift table, place card table, cake table, coffee, tea and soda with the meal..and a coffee bar all night etc etc.)
No food/bev minimum for weddings November through March

Good luck!

@Ms Bookworm: Those pictures are gorgeous! I had gone there for a networking event for a wedding professionals group, and it was the first place I thought of when we started looking.

@MrsHart2Bee:  Isn’t SPH super expensive?  Like $60+/head for dinner, and a $14,000 food & bev minimum (not including taxes and service fees).
