- Wedding: August 2012
Hi beautiful bees!
Our wedding favors were thought up by my fiance and Maid/Matron of Honor, seperately. Since we are having a camping wedding, fiance thought it would be great to do a camp t-shirt, as if we were away at summer camp. I was worried about cost (and I had a ton of previously envisioned DIY ideas that were blossoming and I was irritated at his compulsion to help, dammit) but thought to get a second opinion on my opinion before responding to fiance. Then she one-upped him. We would also have a tie-dye, puff paint, marker station so everyone could personalize their camp t’s before they left! Sweet! The DIY portion was saved – now everyone could DIY if they wanted to! (then I started getting ahead of myself and almost added a lanyard station…and then I slapped my own face.) We will also have 15 kids present who will be nicely amused by this while the grown ups catch up. Perfect.
Anywhooo, it turns out that we know a guy who knows a guy who does this professionally for expos. And he’s dating my cousin, score on the friends and family discount! So we will get 50 white shirts with black design for $5 per unit. It’s the lowest bid we received, and he turned the design around in 4 days while we’re still waiting for the other peeps to get back to us. >.<
I know $5 per favor (plus the add’l supplies) seems like a lot but we don’t have 200 guests and we’re self-catering so we have saved some loot in other areas.
For the design, I downloaded a free font (burnside dam or something like that) from MyFonts.com and then found some vectors online that I thought were really cute. This is what he came up with. Oh! The camp name is just our names smooshed together. It’s an inside joke because I keep refusing to change my name so we joked that we would both change our names to this so that we were equally screwed.
