my fiancé and I desperately want to have our good friend marry us, but it seems as though Ontario makes this very difficult and essentially impossible. Does anyone know of a way that a layperson can legally marry couples in Ontario?
if not, our next best option is to have an officiant who is willing to be at the wedding to make it legal, but who wouldn’t mind playing essentially a witness role without actively leading the ceremony. Anyone know anyone that wouldn’t be opposed to this? Any other suggestions?
thanks so much!

@kappaletta: I’m no expert but it looks like it’s not an option : http://www.ontario.ca/government/get-married-ontario?openNav=before_you_get_married
I do like your backup idea, though you’d have to find a judge that’s okay with this.
OR I would be civilly married at town hall prior to the wedding (a day or so, whatevers easiest) and have a ceremony performed by a friend (yes I know you would already be “technically” married but I don’t see an issue with this set up personally)
