My cat uses the toilet. Like, to go to the bathroom. And I don’t know why. He’s generally pretty neat about it, though sometimes he misses and gets the seat, which is delightful. We moved across country about 6 months ago, and before the move he NEVER did this. After the move, my Fiance was in the bathroom brushing his teeth, and I heard, “HOLY SH**!” I ran in, and Fiance was pointing at our cat, squatting on the edge of the toilet…peeing. WTH!? He won’t poo in there, he uses his litter box for that, but, he won’t pee in his litter box. Should I be concerned? Is he crazy? Last night, I got up to go into the bathroom, and he RACED past me, jumped up onto the toilet and went to the bathroom, staring at me as though triumphant that he beat me to it. I know I need to get this on tape, but every time I catch him, I’m just so dismayed that I forget. Le sigh. He’s such a weirdo.

Lol, I think he’s just talented. I would crack up everytime I saw that. I wouldn’t be concerned. Anything that’s not on the floor or furniture is fine!

Wow. I tell ya what, wow! Wish MY cat used the toilet!! Are you kidding?? Concerned? Heck no! Rejoice woman! You’re saving money on litter and it’s cleaner too! That is SO awesome! You NEED to get that on youtube!!

a) I think this is hilarious!…I know people that have tried to potty train their cats (some successful, some not so)
b) does it bother you? Maybe you need 2 litter boxes, one for fecal matter and one for urinating. Cats are fussy about their movements!
I don’t think anything is wrong with it per se, I would just keep lysols wipes or the seat up, so that you don’t sit on it after he’s used it. Bacteria, etc.
p.s. you should set up a video camera or webcam and leave it running for a while!

Hahahaha that is hilarious! Reminds me of the cat in the movie “Meet the Parents,” you just have to teach him how to flush…

That’s hilarious. Did you adopt him from a shelter? Maybe he came pre-trained? ha

I wouldn’t be worried. At least it isn’t the floor or furniture like jennifer says!

Dude – this is brilliant! I wish my stupid cats would use the toilet. They don’t even bury in the litterbox because they’re too dumb. Nothing like a big fresh cat sh*t wafting around the apartment while you’re sitting down to dinner.

We actually TRIED to potty train our cats with no success. Can I borrow your cat for a while? Maybe he can show mine how it’s done 😉

Some people have been known to consider spending endless hours and $$ to get their cats to do this. You are incredibly lucky!

i wish my cat did this! lol

Haha, thanks bees! I’m glad no one thinks this is a huge problem–we adopted him as a baby, about 6 weeks old, and he was almost a year and a half old before he started doing this…totally out of the blue!! I have, luckily, gotten into the habit of checking and cleaning the seat before I use the toilet…if only we had two bathrooms, he could have his own. I’ll work on getting a picture for everyone to enjoy! We’ve had guests become very disconcerted when they discover his little trick…he likes to share. Sigh…cats are so weird. 🙂

@ejs – LOL, I was kind of wondering if it was part of his weird attachment to me…like he just wants to do whatever I do? I don’t know…I really really would like someone to explain how this came about! It’s just so weird and random!
