I have been looking all over for a legit work at home job for some extra money and eventually as my only income when we have children. They appear to all be scams. I am not looking to get rich quick I clearly understand that isn’t realistic. It seems it is all data entry scams and ads for webcam models. I don’t work for a company that I can telecommute so that is off the table. Any bees actually have a work at home job that they could pass along info for or know of anything that is real? I am not interested in direct sales of any sort I have tried most of them and I really really hate it. TIA!!

Have you looked into medical transcription? A lot of doctors still use tape recorders to dictate patient visits, and they have to be typed. You might have to attend some training depending on the doctor/clinic/ hospital you work for. My mom did it for years from home, but she works at a clinic now doing it because she likes being around people.

@FutureMrsBex: I will have to look into that. I was under the impression it was a dying field due to computer technology.

@princessbelle: I’m a nurse and our doctors still have their notes transcribed. They call a number and it records for the transcriptionist to listen to and type it up. I know ours work at home because I’ve called to get something typed up STAT and have heard kids screaming, dogs barking, and birds squawking in the background.

@taraelisabeth: Thanks for the input! That is rather reasurring that even people without a dedicated office can do those jobs!

@princessbelle: Have you considered home daycare? If you’re going to be a SAHM that could be an option?
I know FH’s mom works for a cable company at their customer service number as technical support (which is hilariously ironic as she’s so not tech saavy at all – she has trouble with Google…) but she works from home – they set her up with a computer and phone at home, she has a scheduled shift where she has to be logged on etc, but she’s home.

@princessbelle: The doctors I used to work for still get theirs notes transcribed. The transcriptionist came in and picked up the tapes on Mon Wed and Fri and only stayed a few minutes then got paid per line she typed. She had her own machine and all the equipment but I think she made close to $200 a week. (I did her payroll once) when all 3 doctors were in office. Its a good work from home job.

@princessbelle: I have two friends that work from home doing customer service call center jobs, one works for Apple & the other Amazon. You should definitely check them both out.

I don’t know if you’re open to network marketing companies, but I know a lot of SAHM and even working parents that do very well in them. This is a link to one that is really good and I’m not saying that because I’m biased. lol 🙂
