usually all of the backgrounds are in the .body {} tag of your code. there you can replace the existing image for the new one, you need to make sure the code you add is the direct link to the image on photobucket.
if you still have problems you can email me the copy of your template and image and I can insert it for you hello{at}howjoyful.com

I'm trying to change the background of my blog to one that I designed myself in photoshop. I've been following the directions here: http://thecutestblogontheblock.com/blog-secrets/144-how-to-make-your-own-background.html
But I still can't seem to get my background to load on my blog. I'm thinking part of the problem may be that my blogger isn't on a minima template, at least I don't think it is. I don't even see a minima template as an option. All I see is a Simple template or watermark, etc. And when I go to edit the HTML of those templates I don't even see the HTML code that she says I am supposed to be changing. It doesn't exist in those templates. In my old template the code was there, and when I changed it my file still didn't upload. But now that I switched to a simple template that code isn't there.
Can anyone help me figure out how to get my custom background uploaded? I had saved it as a jpeg, then put it in photobucket as a 1MB file... Now how can I get it to work?
