I haven’t been dress shopping yet (so I am also really interested in feedback on this)!

I have heard some pretty good things about Mon Amie bridal salon in Costa Mesa, LA county.

Any more input from other SoCal brides?…

I had a wonderful experience at La Soie in Torrance. There are other locations in southern California as well.

I also went to Pebbles Bridal in Woodland Hills. They have a good selection at a wide range of prices and a very nice selection of samples to purchase off the rack.

LA is a bit too north for me, so I only know OC/SD salons. I loved loved Blush Bridal Couture in Tustin. The girls there are fabulous and they have a perfect 5 star rating (80+ reviews) on Yelp, which I’ve never seen elsewhere. I’ve been to Mon Amie in Costa Mesa and had a great experience, but I know some people have mixed reviews about the place. I haven’t been yet, but I plan to visit The White Dress in Corona Del Mar and I’ve heard good things about the place.

If you want to venture to SD, I loved Isis Bridal Boutique in Mira Mesa. You have the salon all to yourself. I’ve been there twice to try on a specific designer. My consultant was super sweet and I never felt rushed. Downside, they have a small selection compared other salons.

I also recommend Blush Bridal Couture in Tustin, CA. They have a wonderful selection of really gorgeous dresses of lace, tulle and more in this gorgeous place. They take their time with you, and lets you take all the pictures you require. They truly deserve the 5star reviews on Yelp as arabesque have mentioned as they are really customer oriented. It’s about an hour’s drive from downtown LA area but it will be worth it. 🙂

The bridal salon where I end up finding my dream dress is from is La Soie Bridal, Pasadena. They have 4.5stars rating on Yelp. Like Blush bridal, you can take all the pictures you want and not feel rushed in anyway despite being a weekend. I appreciated the consultant adjusting the skirting and train for me as I stood in various angles for photo taking (to take advantage of the natural light coming in from the windows)without me having to ask and also quickly find me possible matching sashes. I was able to push for a discount with them as well. My dress and sash actually arrived 2weeks earlier than scheduled.

Good luck and have fun with the dress search! 🙂

oh, I forgot to mention Bliss Bride in Del Mar. My friend had a great experience there and loved it. I’ve never been since it’s out of my budget but if you’re looking for Vera Wang, Jenny Packham, and Claire Pettibone in San Diego it is worth checking out as they also close the salon to give you a private consultation like Isis. Good luck!

La Soie in Pasadena was amazing.  Super nice, great service, wonderful selection and you can take pictures.  Pebbles Bridal in Woodland Hills has a big selection but it definitely lacks in ambiance.  But everyone is really nice.   I also really liked Lili’s Bridal in Encino.  Again, great selection, pleasant staff and nice atmosphere.

I had the same problem in Vegas – not very many choices and went to both MaryLinn and La Soie in Pasadena.  The couture selection was good at Mary Linn but the samples were dirty and I was not fond of the salon.  La Soie has a more limited selection but it is clean – the samples were in good condition and they were super lovely.

Maybe you and I need to open a bridal shop here 🙂

I had a very good exprerience so far at Panache in Beverly Hills, Pebbles in Woodland Hills ( no pictures in both) and Mariposa in Anaheim( pictures allowed- makes a HUGE difference to see what you will look like in pictures!)

I had a great experience at Panache Bridal in Costa Mesa. Would totally recommend.

However, unlike previous brides, I had a TERRIBLE experience at La Soie Bridal in Torrance. I would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

I emailed La Soie over a week in advance to make sure they had a specific dress sample in stock, in a size I could try on (I’m a plus size in bridal gowns). They emailed back saying they had it in a size 18 an that they had several other plus size samples I could try on. Great!  I made an appointment.

I was SUPER excited–until I arrived at the store. First, they were just opening, so the manager had to attend to a lot of opening up details (literally, when I walked in there were no lights on and all the racks were covered by curtains). That ate into the first 10 minutes of my appointment. Then, we looked at the racks, and I could already tell there would be a problem. Not only did they NOT have the dress I asked about in the store at all–they did not have one plus-sized sample dress that I could even try on!  They kept trying to squeeze me into a size 10…

When I mentioned that I had called in advance about the specific dress, they said they did have it, but that they probably loaned the dress to one of their other LA area salons. If that was the case, why not call me before I got there and change the appointment? They knew I was primarily interested in THAT dress!  And why ship a dress out to another store when a bride has made an appointment to try that specific dress on??? Their response? “When we get that dress back, we can call you and schedule another appointment.”

Terrible customer service. Terrible.

As a bridal plus size, I dreaded wedding dress shopping for EXACTLY this reason–I was afraid I’d get to a salon and have nothing to try on, and feel really down. That’s how I felt leaving this place. Just defeated. It was an AWFUL experience that could have been completely avoided if they had just been honest about what dresses they had in stock. Instead, I left there feeling MISERABLE and like my time was completely wasted!

Plus size brides (and in bridal sizes, that’s anyone over a street size 10)–look elsewhere! And if you have a specific dress in mind, don’t expect that dress to be there at your appointment! They’ll say anything to get you into their salon.
