@cheese: I can't do it, so I'm no help at all. It made for a difficult pregnancy, but I just ate small amounts all the time. Between about 18 and 28 weeks I felt great. There was enough room for baby and food!
@Mrs. DG: Oh, yay, someone else! I keep wondering if I can take the anti-gas stuff you give babies. I mean, it's safe for babies! I'll wait to ask my MW.
Hahah! I'm sorry that you're uncomfortable, but this made me laugh :) The burping part, I mean. I've been burping like a man since I was like 7 years old. You'd think it was a sport or something. Not cute.
Try gulping down some soda or another carbonated beverage. That will definitely make you burp, and you might end up burping up any extra air in your tum. also, i'd mention it to your doc cause it might be some version of bloat (since gas not making it's way out of the other way is...) that he/she could help you with. good luck!
IF you are trying to make yourself burp.....quickly suck in air then push out through your throat....thats the best way I can describe it!
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've never in my life burped without throwing up. I can make tiny gurgly sounds... but that's it. So yeah, not much help here.
You know, I'm not a pregnant lady, but I've never been able to burp properly either! If I chug a ton of soda or beer really quickly, I can kind of burp-exhale, but it's quiet and not very satisfying. This is weird, but I'm kind of jealous of how everyone else can let-er-rip. it just sounds so satisfying.
And I can't whistle either, dammit.
I know how to do it, but don't know how to explain it...it's just something I've always known how to do, just not on command. My sister burps like freaking Homer Simpson, I should ask her if she has any tricks I can share with you!
Wow..describing how to burp is hard. Hrm.. If you sit up straight and then open your mouth and try to force air out (try forcing out the word "hhhheeeeeeey *like Canadian eh*), do you feel that pressure right under your rib cage where your muscles are pushing in? If you start feeling uncomfortable, try doing that a little bit, it sort of massages the air out of my stomach and since my throat/windpipe are open and I'm pushing out, I can usually burp.
TMI, and very tricky to explain, but I hope it helps! Sorry you're so uncomfortable.
@NDBee: I just wanted to say that is the best dirrections for making yourself burp I have ever heard!
@cyndistar3:Lol. Thanks. i've had acid reflux/GERD for over 10 years, so dealing with an unhappy tummy is a skill I've mastered. I'm glad my talents may be of help ;-) Haha.
@NDBee: Oohh I am sorry about the acid reflux, my FI has it bad =( unfortunately it comes with terrible smelling burps ;)
I don't know if this will help, but whenever I feel sick and feel like burping will make it feel better I drink 7up or Canada Dry. It makes me burp and then I feel better.
@NDBee: I still can't burp, but I did successfully scare the cat out the room. It was hilarious. Thank you!
OK I'm going to try to describe this as well as I can. Put the tip of your tongue right behind the back of your teeth (as if you were about to make a T-sound), then push the flat part of your tongue up to the roof of your mouth (pushing all the air to the back of the throat), try to allow your throat to relax and "swallow "the air. I don't know how to better descibe this...but that's how I make myself do it. Good luck in your burping adventures!
Have you tried having somebody rub your back while you're sitting up straight? I sometimes get bad burping and DH rubs my back for me - it's kinda like burping a baby and it definitely helps!
I just had to come back to say thanks for all the tips. I'm simultaneously grossed out and laughing my *ss off.
I managed to gag myself a lot but never did burp. At this point, I've figured out that 90% of the time that I feel like I'm going to puke, I can gag a bit and a big burp comes out. So gross!
So thanks - for the tips AND for the giggles.

I'm in my sixteenth week and still feeling terrible, always at night, no matter what I eat. Best I can figure, it's not MS in the traditional sense, but digestive issues.
I can't burp. Don't know how. So 75% of the time when I gag and run to the bathroom, a huge horrible disgusting frog burp comes out (you know, sounds like a frog). Then the taste/ smell (sorry) makes me want to puke.
So, I need to learn how to burp. I made the mistake of looking it up on YouTube - ew. Don't do that. Anyone recall learning how, or are you just blessed with the ability?
Also, do be thankful!! :)
